I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I really enjoy working with the people. I love the hour lunches, gives you a chance to run and pay a bill if you need to. I can shop right after work also.

    Cons

There is always a lot of freight, and you only have so much time to get it to the floor. That can really be hard sometimes, especially if you are a supervisor. Supervisors also have other obligations also. That alone is quite challenging.

    Advice to Management

They should lead by example and be on the floor all the time. Schedule better so there are enough associates on the floor to better help stock

I have been working at Walmart part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Teaches work ethics and gives young people something to strive for with frequent promotions. Pay isn’t bad.

    Cons

    Very physical and fast paced

    Advice to Management

Do not YELL at people. It is unacceptable and makes you look incompetent.

    Pros

Very communicative and strives for greatness.

    Cons

    Breaks are too short.

    Advice to Management

I think you guys are amazing, I think the only problem would be for you guys to increase the breaks because it’s entirely too fast.

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Plenty of room for advancement.

    Cons

Home office has no appreciation for individual stores.

    Advice to Management

Stop micromanaging and let individual stores cater to their local population.

    Pros

The pay is decent and I love the people I work with.

    Cons

Management doesn't know how to do scheduling for cashiers. Some cashiers are lazy and whine too much.

    Advice to Management

Take heed to the advice that CSM's give you.

I worked at Walmart full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The work and pay are very reliable, the company treats associates well considering how many of them there are. For those who are employed for longer amounts of time, there are a wide array of benefits available.

    Cons

The work can get boring sometimes, but if you find a way to enjoy the work it goes by much faster. Not very fulfilling work, would not choose to work here long term. The hours blow (2-11pm when I was there, but I hear it is now 1-10pm)

    Advice to Management

I appreciate that the opportunity for advancement is high. Try to better monitor visiting Assistant Managers as sometimes they can disrupt the workplace balance.

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Decent paying job in rural areas

    Cons

If you're not a dept mgr, you're schedule varies and its impossible to have commitments. Hours can be cut any time, positions done away with frequently, management is clueless.

    Advice to Management

Hire from within. Seriously. No one that has a good head on their shoulders inside your company wants to be promoted because Salary positions at Walmart are awful. Work, Work, Work.
