I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Many decent people work there, competitive starting pay. You get what you put into the job. It's easy to find a niche in most stores and take ownership of it.

    Cons

Lack of clear direction from management, many associates don't put in their fair share, customers who treat you like trash.

    Advice to Management

They need to support their associates better, not just throw people into the deep end and yell at them when they don't know how to swim.

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The pay when you reach middle management is actually a living wage if you live reasonably

    Cons

    Upper management is completely unrealistic

    Advice to Management

When you get to upper management, please try to keep in mind what you had to go through as middle management and be reasonable with your expectations. We can't send out emails all day and have someoneven else do what we don't want to.

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The other associates. That is about it. I honestly cannot think of one good thing to say about Wal Mart.

    Cons

EVERYTHING! From corporate right down to support managers, the entire company is shady. I worked there for 2 years and I cannot say I learned anything from that job, other that how to suck up to managers. The hours suck unless you're overnights. I was at a neighborhood market and they recently changed the overnight stocking to day/evening stocking RIGHT before the holidays. TERRIBLE idea. I fell and got hurt in the parking lot, after I clocked out, and was told they couldn't do anything about the absences. I had a doctor's note stating I couldn't work for 4 days, which would've put me half a point over my allowed occurrences, but all I was told was "this isn't high school" and my manager hung up in my face. Management was constantly harassing me about problems that they created or that I couldn't fix because IM NOT MANAGEMENT. They promoted a stocker to support manager after he had only been there for 3 months, but I was supposed to train him on how to do his job. Riiiiiiight. This whole company is a joke.

    Advice to Management

Talk to your associates about how YOU can make the workplace better. It's not our job to fix your mistakes. Train your managers better.

I have been working at Walmart full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Walmart has taught me how to manage ordering and maintaining inventory for wireless and photo center. They have allowed me the opportunity to apply the knowledge and experience that I already had to there system. There are Managers that make it there mission to consistently strive to better their team.

    Cons

There are a few associates that have become complacent, which makes it tough to teach them new policies and procedures.

    Advice to Management

Always be learning new ways to teach those around you to be better and how to work together to benefit each other as team.
