I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Competitive Pay
Many locations for ample promotion opportunity

    Cons

Management positions are eliminated regularly leaving you to apply for a different one.
Realign districts annually leaving new area managers to relearn the talent. You have to constantly reprove yourself to new management.

    Advice to Management

Make sure you go above and beyond goals. Be willing to relocate lateral moves.

    Pros

Some of the best reasons to work here is cause they always have work for you to do and alot of it

    Cons

Some of the down sides is customers can be cruel and the pay could be better I think. It's sad

    Advice to Management

Quit being so up tight. As long as I'm working and doing what I'm told it don't matter.

I worked at Walmart part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great place to work if you enjoy being in the public and you are customer service oriented.

    Cons

Management needs to have training in managing diverse populations in the workplace. After you become an employee, you are not treated as well as you were when you were a customer.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees as well as you treat your customers. After all, they were customers before coming to work for Walmart.

One of the best places to make good friends, all of my former co-workers are still my current friends!

The absolute worst thing about working at Wal-Mart is the constantly changing management.

    Advice to Management

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I actually worked here 9 years in total but not continuously. When the company has a good staffing level it can be a great experience. You got a discount but it didn’t really cover groceries or not when I worked there.

    Cons

Walmart is trying to chase and beat Amazon in the online retail so they have gotten worse when it comes to employees. Unless you truly don’t want to have a personal life, don’t make Walmart a permanent career choice.

    Advice to Management

Don’t sacrifice yourself to Walmart. Remember that at the end of the day you too are expendable the same as the lowest workers all the way down to the cart pusher or door greeter. Don’t run the employees ragged and listen everyone once in a while.
