I worked at Walmart full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

decent pay, cost of benefits, employee stock purchase program

    Cons

quality of benefits, alternating schedule, style of management

    Advice to Management

don't pull managers from their areas to work in other managers areas and then hassle tehm because their area is not up top the standard you expect. Can't get your area correct if you are always pulled to a different area.

I have been working at Walmart full-time for more than 6 years

      Pros

Health care is relatively competitive with other companies in the same industry.

      Cons

The benefit of the recent wage increases past two years have now been nullified by the drastic reduction in earned paid time off per hours worked. I have worked 7 years for Walmart. I finally reached 5 weeks vacation potential. Or more specifically 198 paid time off hours earned and used in 2018. The new paid time policy Feb 2019 will have me earning only 128 hours of potential vacation time for the year. WHAT??? 198...

      Advice to Management

Paid time off policies should only apply to new hires that are hired AFTER the effective date of the new policy. A multi year employee should not have to see a reduction in their earned paid time off accrual rates after already receiving a higher earned accrual rate per hours worked in their prior years of service. This demeans and devalues those employees that have stuck with the company in good standing for years....

I worked at Walmart full-time for more than 2 years

      Pros

Diverse people, always moving, many different opportunities

      Cons

Management can overstep other management because of size of store, communication could be lacking in some stores.

      Advice to Management

Don't take the word of just one or two people, it's hard to really know what goes on in a store of such size.

I worked at Walmart full-time for more than 2 years

      Pros

The number one pro is that you pretty much can get hired if you don't have a gnarly criminal history and aren't a complete degenerate. That is no little thing. A place where you can probably get a job if you are just not too lazy to apply is a very American concept. You can rebuild or start out at this company. It wasn't boring work. Never a lack of stuff to do. It was indoors for the most part. You can move...

      Cons

I guess the downside of being able to pretty much get hired if you have a pulse is that you really do run into some pretty marginal people at this job. It's definitely an anti-thinking environment. It might be too easy to move up because they have a lot of managers who have zero business managing anything period let alone a high volume business. It's really hard to get time off. It's hard work for little pay.

      Advice to Management

Honestly for as much crap as people talk about Wal-Mart I think their management (higher ups) are pretty dang brilliant. Not middle management. But higher up people. The reason I say that is because obviously the business is huge and everywhere. Something is being done right. Also, I think their status as being a place where pretty much anybody who wants to work can have a job is a very important role to play in...

Stop contradicting each other in instructions for those you supervise.

      Pros

not really any I can think of.. if you enjoy doing a different job everyday then this is your thing.

      Cons

Forced to everyone's job in the store, even if that's not your job title. Terrible management, very biased management.
