I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great 401K plan. Stable job and company. Plenty of room for growth.

    Cons

Pay isn't great. Work alot of extra days. Promote 4 day schedule, but actually 5 days, 13-15 hours a day.

    Advice to Management

Review salaries to the market and provide a pay bump. Use data to establish goals.

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Hourly employees are treated well and the pay usually matches the skill level. The stress level for hourly employees is relatively low and the company treats them well for fear of drawing in any union activity.

    Cons

Salaried members of management do not have the same advantages/protections as hourly employees. WakMart will hurt your soul. It was the worst employment experience I ever had. Most hourly employees dare not tread into salaried management positions because they witness fiest hand how salaried managersare treated. If you are recruited from the corporation, beware. most people leave within 12 months.

    Advice to Management

Walk your talk and treat everyone with respect. Your core values are a lie if they are not all inclusive

    Pros

Great experience builder. You can learn a great deal in the aspect of people management. The company will put you through classes to teach leadership development.

    Cons

The hours can be relentless. Although most shifts are 3 or 4 days a week, each day lasts 15 to 18 hours guaranteed. Family time and sleep take a back seat to work.

    Advice to Management

One of the company philosophies is "Take care of your associates." The company needs to remember that managers are associates too.
