I have been working at Walmart full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Pay decent. Not complicated work.

    Cons

Very inefficient job processes. In charge 15 people but then multiple Mgrs over you resulting in constant power struggle over who gets what ”they” want done which leads to selfishness of the individuals and store suffering. Basically it’s a daily blame game between the 3 different teams. CAP 2 afternoon til closing shift responsible for majority of stocking but grossly under scheduled. This of course results in the overnight crew starting their shift way behind sched. To catch up they monopolize the assistance of opening shift to complete tasks and then opening shift is behind.
All could be solved by just putting “correct” amt of people on CAP 2 closing shifts but I don’t foresee that happening due to how much money Walmart makes.
Again the biggest issue here is moral, everyone blames everyone.

    Advice to Management

Have weekly mtgs to communicate new ideas and solve issues. If Mgrs would stop running around like their hair was on fire and took time to listen to associates it would greatly improve moral. Schedule more people CAP2

I have been working at Walmart part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

15 min. Breaks every 2 Hours

Understaffed means plenty of hours to go around.

Flexibility depends completely on who management is.

    Cons

    Schedule is almost completely random.

Will frequently be rotated to different areas.

    Notorious for being understaffed.

Can and most likely will be given full time hours w/o full time benefits.

May be forced to stand still for up to 2 hours at a time.

    Advice to Management

Consistently communicate with each other and the staff and what expectations are.

I worked at Walmart part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I was a cashier and loved my customers, they were great! Most of my co-workers were friendly.

    Cons

Consistantly understaffed, no back up when people call out...you just work harder to complete your job and theirs, if you are in any role but management/ supervisor you are permanently labled "part time" no matter how long you work...at one point I was consistently getting about 38 hours a week but earning benefits at 1/2 the rate of employees working the same amount of hours but were "grandfathered in" under full time status. (I worked at the same location for 11 years!) Poor machine and building maintainance, things were constantly breaking and malfunctioning...made for a frustrating working environment. The icing on the cake? Last year I worked there they adopted a new policy that basically says on days when your facility is closed like Christmas...and for some of you up north Thanksgiving...you get the day off...but you only get paid if you have earned PTO...paid time off. If you CHOOSE to get paid on that day you are taking away from a pool of earned time that was recently combined...sick time...personal time...vacation time if any...so...if you get paid on a "holiday"...you are loosing vacation and or sick days.

    Advice to Management

Remember when you are scheduling people to work...none of us are in high school...we need the hours you give us to live....so...35 hrs one week....and 28 the next won't pay bills! Understand that life/emergencies happen and scheduling time off in advace is not always possible...have a heart. (One of my co-workers missed the funeral of a murdered family member...because you threatened to fire her if she took off time for the funeral if someone didnt cover her shift! Seriously?!)

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Decent pay for decent work.

    Cons

Management is incompetent, all they know how to do is bully people and hold their jobs over their heads. Once you get over the fear of losing your job they make harass you until you quit or mess up and fire you.

    Advice to Management

Positive re-enforcement goes a long way. The management bullying is fun and games and going head to head with managers has been the most fun I've experienced, but some good hard working loyal workers don't need it.
