I worked at Walmart part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible Hours during school. Loved my coworkers and management and were very supportive of my career path. You get out what you put in... if you're a great employee with great work ethic you are well appreciated. Free meals and time and a half on Holidays. 10% Discount always and a bigger discount for Holiday shopping.

I started off in the Toy department but I also learned sporting goods, electronics and photo lab.

    Cons

Like any retail store, Holidays are rough. Customers treat you with disrespect so you just need to maintain good customer service.

    Advice to Management

Thank you for the career opportunity and being flexible with my school schedule. I have since graduated with my bachelors degree and am pursuing a job in my desired industry!

I have been working at Walmart part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The pay $11.33 for part time here
Being able to talk to anyone about anything in the world without politics involved is nice
Doesn't have you work off the clock
    The discount

    Cons

Management is horrendous when addressing problems or everyday issues go unresolved
Bad life-work balance at times it feels like the schedule is automated by a bot and not a human being
Loud obnoxious sometimes senile co workers (be prepared to tell clingy ones to buzz off) always trying to pick a fight over small things
Work at a unrealistic pace because store managers want to see you fail at your job by steeping on your feet as much as they can
    Cutting hours without anyone's knowledge

    Advice to Management

Be more human and caring, stop with the kiddy games of favoritism because you will lose hard workers and sooner than later you will be understaffed

I worked at Walmart part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Employee discount, great people to work with, fun department events. systems are mostly thought out which makes the job easy unless you need to do something a bit different than SOP.

    Cons

absolute refusal to full time schedule anyone not salaried. for about 6 months at a different store i was given Dept Manager privileges in the computer and was doing her job during her extended absence. despite being payed as an associate. (i didn't mind too much). clearance inventory that was so obsolete but we had to keep stocking it until it (never) sold or hope someone stole it or broke it so it could be policy A shrinkage.

    Advice to Management

If something is obsolete send it to one of those auctions that sells to discount sellers. there is no reason to sell iPhone 3 cases when the i phone 5 is in the display. this is a waste of so much resources. let each department have some truly full time slots. that guarantee will increase morale.

    Pros

Co-workers, decent pay, can easily move up, benefits

    Cons

I worked at Walmart part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Only pro great trainer

    Cons

Poor management, poor CSM's Sault Sainte Marie is a small town, no room for advancement unless you have a big name in the community. Management ignores well qualified employees therefore they quit!

    Advice to Management

Stop the favoritism, the store is paying dearly for the choices being made. Upset employees big egos. Tone it down! Put the big names who cry in their place!
