I have been working at Walmart full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Decent pay, variety of tasks to complete, friendly co-workers, great place to learn the basics of vehicle maintenance.

    Cons

Department manager absent most of the time, shop organization and cleanliness needs work, tools go missing sometimes.

    Advice to Management

Manager needs to be present to oversee the work that is being done at the shop rather than being elsewhere and only showing up to deal with shop damage claims and discipline the technicians. Have a more "do as I do" perspective rather than a "do as I say" perspective.

I have been working at Walmart full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

They are very diverse with many chances to move anywhere in the US

    Cons

They like to change the name of positions so they can drop the pay while cutting the people.

    Advice to Management

Quit cutting associates hours. Quit changing the name of positions to try to force change. All that is happening is the positions are getting taken by the same people who already had them and no advancement is happening or improvement. All the good help is leaving because they do not feel there is any job security.

I have been working at Walmart full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - will always be around - competitive pay with other retail stores - large company, many fillable positions.

    Cons

    - large company, sometimes you are just a body. - cannot negotiate pay for experience/education. - some stores are on a good ol boy system.

    Advice to Management

Research what the people want. Grass root surveys are not always accurate, sometimes physically interviewing the right people can open your senses up to a new world of ideas.

I have been working at Walmart full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    There are none any longer

    Cons

Treatment at walmart sucks... Associates are treated like prisioners with wardens dictating their every move while on clock. Way too much butt kissing and favoritism in stores. Lazy employees kiss butts to scrape by and be promoted while the hard workers and stronger associates are harassed, threaten with verbals and coachings or blatantly made to do more of the load than coworkers.

    Advice to Management

Respect and truly listen to your associates under you, at one time you walked in their shoes. Stop stressing the associates out that are doing their and focus on corrective actions on the ones that are weaker. Last but least is it too hard to simply say ' Job well done '? ... Just ever so often.
