I worked at Walmart as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

Friendly staff, supportive and flexible, customer-oriented, really cares about employees

    Cons

Pharmacist saturation means not much chance for job as pharmacist in the same area

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Benefit options were very good.

After falling behind competitively, they are having to react sharply rather than acting proactively.

    Advice to Management

    Be leaders instead of managers.

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Pay/benefits/superior technology/patient safety oriented/low learning curve

    Cons

    Corporate bullying/politics/lack of respect/poor work-life balance

    Advice to Management

Treat pharmacists as the professionals that they are. They may be associated within the store thus the hierarchy of corporate Walmart, but they are healthcare professionals which demand the respect and recognition that is granted from the attainment of such higher education.

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good pay and benefits. Lots of customer interaction.

    Cons

Corporate management is progressively getting worse and worse. Aggressive and in your face, every chance they get. My supervisor plays favorites. Too much meaningless busy work to do in addition to taking care of the customers and managing the business.

    Advice to Management

I get the "accountability" thing, but let people do their jobs.

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The customers were friendly and I enjoyed developing a relationship with them.

    Cons

Staff didn’t work together as a team, turnover was high and management took away needed tech hours.

    Advice to Management

Don’t follow CVS in driving off or firing your staff with increasing responsibilities and metrics to hit while cutting staff and leaving pharmacists with low staff to run the store. Ageism is evident in staff terminations.

I worked at Walmart (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits. Pharmacy closes for lunch and if you budget well, you can have more than enough help.

    Cons

Stores will close down if corporate believes business is not doing well, despite pharmacy doing well. No room for growth as well

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Better coverage than most retail pharmacy jobs, pharmacist only bathroom, good bonus but only if you're a pharmacy manager

    Cons

Front store management's cooperation with pharmacy is not consistent across stores, managers in positions they don't deserve - right time right place
