I have been working at Walmart full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

I have worked as a cashier, sales associate, service desk associate and pharmacy technician. I had awesome managers for the most part so I liked working at Walmart. If you have an opportunity to move into the pharmacy--take it! I started as a cashier and after reading a Pharmacy Tech Book (Mosby's) I took the National test and got a position as a pharmacy tech.

    Cons

Can get random hours + holidays and weekends. Not very good training.

    Advice to Management

Come up with a SIMPLE training manual for each position, something employees can refer to for different questions. For example having common trouble shooting processes or how to input a compound for the pharm tech position.

"My experience at Walmart was terrible, management treats employees like they are burdens, which is no way to treat staff"

I worked at Walmart part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Some of the Assistant Managers were apologetic which seems to mean that the rudest management was following some terrible corporate policy to the letter.

    Cons

Walmart has continually shown that they don't care about their employees. They have placed caps on how much they will pay and they spend millions of dollars on lobbyists every year. Those millions of dollars should go towards their employees' raises and better insurance.

    Advice to Management

Start fighting for your employees and help rid the company of bad policies.

I worked at Walmart part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Teaches you to work with all types of people. Good for a first job if you're still living with your parents, and you don't need to get a lot of hours.

    Cons

Retail is never the ideal career.

    Advice to Management

Talk to your people more and get to know them. The only time I ever saw a manager was to be redirected, which doesn't make for very good relationships or positive morale.

I have been working at Walmart

    Pros

No real need to be at the top of your game.

    Cons

Long hours required one day and requirements to cut previous overtime on future days in the week. COACHING of employess seen as a disciplinary movement rather than an actual TRAINING FOR IMPROVEMENT of employees. Managements lack of leadership and knowledge of actual day-to-day situations for improvement and actual increase of corporate profits.

    Advice to Management

Become true leaders and know what you are about, rather than just wear the mantle of a tyrant.
