    I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    I cannot speak for past behavior of the company, nor for the non-web part. But on the technology side, I found myself being pleasantly surprised by what I found in the company vs. the assumptions Walmart out there in the general public.

    * modern technology choices
    * open environment
    * opensource heavily used and contributions encouraged
    * large scale to play with (data, visitors, product count, problem space, etc)
    * willingness to invest in innovative solutions and experimentation (depends on team I suppose)
    * company is showing more and more progressive and socially-responsible behaviors on the political front (green energy focus is one highlight)
    * "doing the right thing" is actually deeply ingrained into Walmart's DNA

    Cons

    * Big company issues - many departments with legacy solutions and long standing problems
    * If you are willing to "bring your own leadership", you'll have a good time. Otherwise, depends on which group you end up in.

    I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    1. Brand Name
    2. If lucky then scalability
    3. Good compensation
    4. Free food & Transport

    Cons

    1. Internal politics - slow growth if you are not a flatter
    2. HR is corrupt - No referrals will be shortlisted even for 1 interviews, as they get there cut from consultants.
    3. No flexibility to learn new things.
    4. False commitments by manager(s) and others, just to hold you there for one another year without proper appraisal

    Advice to Management

    Please improve your HR first, then train the managers, and last but not the least ... stop telling lies...
