I worked at Walmart part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good starting pay, learn retail skills, occasional chances for promotion.

    Cons

Management that lacks management skills, you will more than likely work every holiday and weekend and work long and unusual hours.

    Advice to Management

Loosen up on employees, and actually learn some management skills..

I worked at Walmart part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You get to meet a lot of new people and become familiar with them. If you're good at your job, people will want to come in to see you specifically and it feels good.

    Cons

It's very difficult to get help when you need it with how busy they are almost constantly. The 10$ minimum wage is false so don't rely on that. You don't get the 10$ until after you've been there for by six months.

    Advice to Management

Actually be open with the workplace policies. Listen to your employees with the open door policy. I was threatened out of my old job by the store manager when I tried to enforce the open door policy.

    Positive Outlook

    Pros

Responsibility some coworkers were very helpful, always had a lot of things to do so it made your day go by very fast.

    Cons

Management sucks!!! No communication at all, never had the equipment to do your job. Ie. price changes, making labels or setting mods. I started to have nightmares and anxiety attack s for getting blamed for not doing my job when I didn't have the equipment to do my job. Let alone be able to stay in my department.

    Advice to Management

Communication and knowing that everyone is an actual person not a robot. Provide the proper staffing and equipment for employees to do there jobs right.

I worked at Walmart part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I really liked the people I worked with. At store level, it had a family atmosphere. The managers were always great to me.

    Cons

The company itself is terrible. Absurdly low pay, even for experience. Benefits are crappy. This company tries to use you for all it can, and does not value it's employees. It's a shame really.

    Advice to Management

No advice to management, just the top heavy corporate vultures. Loosen up the pay scale for experienced skilled workers. Value your employees, it will pay off better for you in the long run.
