Former Employee - Retail in Dallas, TX

I worked at Walmart for more than 4 years

    Pros

It was a great environment and meeting new people was exciting.

    Cons

Customers that would bring a lot of items to the conveyer belt but only purchase two items after I have gave them there total.

    Advice to Management

It would be wonderful if there were signs to warn the customers to be prepared before going to check out.

      Former Employee - Retail

I worked at Walmart part-time for more than 2 years

      Pros

Some of the benefits and discounts

      Cons

Some of the management need customer service training. They also will let anyone become a manager and have no clue on how to treat employees in a proper respectful manner. CSM's do not know how to treat employees.

      No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Walmart full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Good hours, a variety of schedules and opportunities for advancement, excellent training and a variety of actual trades can be learned as an employee.

      Cons

Low starting pay, little respect or sympathy from management. It's incredibly hard to get fired so lazy bastards can hold up entire departments for months and not get let go.

      Advice to Management

Respect your employees a bit more. Snide remarks and blatant put downs don't make employees produce better results.

      Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Walmart part-time for more than 2 years

      Pros

Benefits begin within first 6 months, and the longer you stay, the more you receive.

      Cons

Long hours, high likely hood you will be standing on your feet, and if hurt, getting a leave of absence can be difficult.

      Advice to Management

Listen to the suggestions of your employees instead of saying no before your employees even finish bringing it up. More than 70% of our concerns are legitimate and can be solved if you would listen to us.
