    Pros

Being able to work with customers
    Co workers were amazing

    Cons

Management did not want to cooperate with a new schedule. Getting time off was almost impossible without being penalized for it. Applied for part-time ended up working full time with over time.

    Advice to Management

Work with your associates. They have lives outside of your facility.

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Vacation time, learn different depts.

    Cons

One of the worst toxic work environments I’ve had to endure by far, coworkers were always rude, cherry-picked, vindictive, and didn’t work as a team no matter how respectful you were. Other workers will try to boss, be vindictive and intimidate you into also doing their work while never helping you out in turn. Management didn’t really care about you as an employee or human being, I came to them several times because I wanted to be placed in different dept because of coworkers and was never followed up with any solution and was just ignored. As another example, one time I had to take my break in the last 30 minutes because I had no one to cover me until then and I had a manager come find me and ask me really rudely why I did so and that we don’t take breaks that late, and when I tried to explain, she walked off min-sentence. That level of blatant disrespect was extremely common, not to mention being talked over purposefully when trying to talk and being dismissed. Management would also negatively talk about employees to each other or normal sales associates, I’ve had it happen when they were walking right behind me and heard them and I’ve had a friend that was shopping in the store heard how they talk rudely about employees and their schedules to others. Most of management as well as other coworkers could be really lazy and push work on the other sales associates. Favoritism was rampant, for example an employee that has been there for quite some time took 30 minute smoke breaks, (it’s supposed to be 15), nothing was ever done. You would also be placed in departmenrs to work without a moments notice or training and you would be expected to get freight done without knowing where anything went and no scanner to help. The stockers that would get overtime, especially during the holidays, would be made to take the extra time off during their lunch which in extreme cases could be up to 3 hours instead of letting them go home early, it’s explicitly stated in the handbook that you’re supposed to be able to keep and be payed for overtime and not to take it off. Also sexism and gossip is common as well, I had a male friend I also worked and talked to and I was put into very uncomfortable conversations and jokes were made towards him. No matter how much you try to keep to yourself or keep work and outside life seperate there will be coworkers that gossip enough to fill those gaps. I could write an entire essay of my negative experiences. There were few good people here, but not bough to weigh out all the bad. This place made my mental health so much more worse, stay away from this place if at all possible.

    Advice to Management

Walmart 5173 needs to handle their employees better, being unnecessary rude and vindictive to other coworkers needs to actually be handled appropriately. Management needs some kind of training to understand social anxiety and depression a bit better. Pay their employees for overtime.
