I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Walmart provides competitive pay and has been an excellent employer for me over the last 27 years. I have been provided great opportunities to grow my career and self over the years.

    Cons

Walmart tends to lose its way from time to time. Constant changes in the retail environment creates reactive behavior versus being more strategic about the long term goals of the organization.

    Advice to Management

Never forget the people who made Walmart what it is today. Ordinary people doing extraordinary things. It is the people of Walmart who truly make the difference.

I worked at Walmart part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They usually listened to what you had to say and tried to make your job a little easier if you found a way that worked. Management was usually very friendly and actually cared about you. The day after my car accident I came into work and management to me to go home and relax because I was covered in bruises and you could tell I was in pain. The day of my grandma's funeral that I could not attend because it was in a different state and I didn't have the money to make it there, they let me work in a different department so that I would not have to deal with customers and if I needed to cry I could do it and not be questioned. So management really does care about their employees.

    Cons

When they give you a raise you get less hours. If you tell them you need surgery because of a previous injury and you need to take some time off then the chances of you getting fired before your time off begins more than triples. You can't be out for more than 3 days even with a doctors note or they'll fire you. The other employees there are either your best friends or they will do everything in their power to get you fired and take your position.

    Advice to Management

When an employee that works their butt off for you and does what you ask when you ask it tells you that another employee wants them fired and is trying to get them fired ... believe them! Because I promise you! It's true, we're not making it up because we don't like them. We come do our job and make money, not get the slackers fired. They make us look better. But seriously, listen to the employees that work their butts off for you, other wise you'll lose them for stupid people.
