I have been working at Walmart full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

High intellectual engagement because there is so much to do and always operates understaffed. If you like to solve challenges and a highly politicized environment, this company is for you.

    Cons

With all the shakeups and layoffs from trying to compete with Amazon and other incoming retailers, the leaders in support areas are mostly interested in promoting and hiring those who can help them look good before their bosses. This means hiring based on image, eloquence, etc. instead of proven track record of results and entrepreneurship.

    Advice to Management

The company is dumping good and hard working contributors and often replacing them for empty suits. Whenever there's a team downsize, the one person standing is the most likeable, not the one who contributed the most to the company. In the long run, this seismic shift in culture will result only in diminished competitiveness.

I worked at Walmart as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

+The pay is best in class for internships, solid relocation, no signing bonus but that's offset by the free hotel, breakfast at the hotel, shuttle, and dinners sometimes at the hotel
    +People are mostly extremely kind
    +solid professional growth track

    Cons

-Has a weird hour lunch in the middle of the day, unacceptable to work short hours despite claimed policy
-Company operates like a religion in many ways, see Saturday Morning Meetings, how large meetings are run, Sam Walton as a prophet

    Advice to Management

Actually follow through on work-life, better starting offer full-time, reduce candidates from BYU -great people, disproportionate recruiting at best-, relax alcohol and swearing policies, provide trainings done by contractors

    Pros

Very willing to work with your hours, which is excellent for someone looking for a job while in school. Provides a fairly decent wage for being retail. Provide with a good amount of training and are willing to help should any more questions arise. Have New Year's Eve night and Christmas off

    Cons

Procedures changed often by corporate, leading to confusion and/or frustration. Some issues with management flipping back and forth on policies. Can be a struggle to pick up hours. Work most Holidays. Few benefits for those working only part time.
