I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

If you worked weekdays during 7am and 4pm customers as well as other associates were generally more sophisticated and of higher quality.

    Cons

Everything is about the almighty dollar. They talk about retention and how much associate turnover costs the company. Yet they don't want associates to be there too long because the company will have to pay them more.
When it comes to working and moving up in the company the only place to move up to is onto management. In the next question , Advice to Management, I explain why being placed in management is not worth it.

    Advice to Management

I feel sorry for store level management. Their hands are tied by the "higher ups". They seriously get paid peanuts, working for a yearly salary that is comical when you see the number of hours they are required to work.
The best possible thing they could do, if they truly cared about their associates would to go back 20-25 years and treat associates the way they were treated then. Give associates bonuses, raises that didn't just come once a year but raises that you could get unexpectedly because you were doing a good job. Stop with pay caps, seriously a company as large as Walmart could be doing so much more for its employees and at one time they truly did! Now it's all about a few "higher ups" making millions and everyone is easily replaceable.
