I have been working at Walmart part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Because I'm stocking, I can stock wherever my manager wants me too and not get bored because there are a lot of different departments. I like to move around when I work so I don't lose interest in a task I'm doing repeatedly.

    Cons

The only downside I can think of working at Wal-Mart is that I'm a new employee and still don't know where every thing is, so I feel really guilty when I can't tell/show a customer where an item they are looking for is.

    Pros

My supervisors were really nice. They always tried to work around my school schedule and gave me more hours when I requested for it.

    Cons

The supervisors can do better when it comes to letting you go for your lunches and breaks. Sometimes you stay at the register over an hour more than the supposed lunch and break time.

    Advice to Management

Management can do better with making sure the supervisors are on top on the cashier's lunch and break times.

    Pros

Will cut hours regardless of your needs. Will tell you one thing and do another. They make themselves look good in the news but don't give the whole story

I have been working at Walmart part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Co-workers are great. It is a fun place to work. Some managers are genuinely interested in seeing employees move up the ladder. The annual profit sharing bonus is great.

    Cons

Although the company claims to have advancement opportunities, this is not the case. Higher positions are given to long-time employees (5-10 year plus tenures). They also do not accurately compensate employees for previous employment experience. They only base salary on a maximum history of 10 years pre-employment. This is unfair for older workers with 15 years+ experience. It turns out that the compensation for very experienced older workers ends up being lower than younger, less experienced workers. For example, my salary as a CSM is less than many cashiers, primarily because they have cash register experience in the past 10 years. I have management experience, but because I have 15+ years experience, not much as a cashier, but as a manager. This is highly unfair.

    Advice to Management

Don't get comfortable in your posting. In 9 months at this store, I have seen two of the best managers fired due to restructuring, and a third excellent manager has been transferred to another store. The more assistant managers kiss up to the store manager, the better their chances are at advancing. THIS IS SO WRONG!
