I have been working at Walmart part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The fellow Walmart associates are quite friendly and Walmart attempts to provide associates with a friendly workspace and numerous benefits.

    Cons

Often understaffed and still expect associates to be on top of everything even during the rushes and while it is nice to promote management from the inside, this sometimes results in unqualified managers

    Advice to Management

Allocate more hours to avoid being understaffed.

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great schedule and working environment. I enjoy working with my coworkers. Good salary and benefits. The bonus opportunity is really good.

    Cons

There is a typical amount of corporate hoops that have to be jumped through. I do not like having to evaluate my own performance on a yearly basis. I would prefer that to come from leadership.

    Advice to Management

Better directions and expectations help clarify difficult concepts or projects. Do not assume everyone's level of understanding or competence is the same.

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great place to start, as long as you look for a higher position immediately. You cannot stay still or you WILL be entrapped.
Great experience at how to train yourself to be patient with people. Also you can develop communication skills extremely well.

    Cons

Great place to start, just not to stay. Higher management WILL ignore your calls over the intercom or the walkie. So you must fend for yourself dealing with the front end by yourself. I'm "full-time" with only 30-36 hours a week, supposed to be 40. No hours for cashiers, no back-ups. Forcing us to do a triple workload DAILY. So like I said, move up as soon as possible.

    Advice to Management

Actually put in orders with district to get things fixed in the store. Be more attentive to the front end's needs as WE ARE the FIRST AND LAST ones the customers see. We need to make the best impression possible to keep this company alive. Something I see very little of.
