    Pros

sometimes there is free food in the break room

    Cons

too much work, no employees, no help, managers barking orders but not helping , managers wont give you the tools you need to do your job, might as well forget asking a manager anything.Lazy associates.

    Advice to Management

start giving incentives, be nice to associates, actually help, stop taking out handhelds and never returning them, treat people the way you want to be treated.

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Depends on the store, but you can learn a lot if you find the right people. You can have a great team if you are lucky.

    Cons

There is never enough staff. Expectations are overly exaggerated. Because associates already have the demeanor of not getting enough pay, they try to the least giving those who want to work together an overload of tasks that becomes ridiculous and overbearing. There is no accountability held over those who do not wish to pull their own weight. But again, it depends on manager rotation. Not enough training for associates. There are problems with preferential treatment in all the Walmart stores i have worked in and also inconspicuous retaliation is always present. The culture that once made this company soar is slowly dwindling with the skeleton crew that chooses to do the least. If you care to much for your job and wish to do a great if not perfect job, these stores will consume you, spit you out, and replace you in a heartbeat. You will "burnout" if you try to fulfill every request. Working off the clock/ and while on lunch becomes a norm for many associates trying to meet managements demands. As a beloved associate who had been in the company for about 40 years shared with me, 'there are too many chiefs, not enough indians'.

    Advice to Management

Care for the associate even though you have your own tasks. Don't just listen but hear what they have to say. They wish to contribute and feel apart of something bigger. They follow by example and if you treat them like they don't matter, they will not care to make a difference; it is all about team effort. Before taking a position as manager please be properly trained in those departments, know your areas. That way crazy expectations wont be a waste of the company time, trying to fulfill a textbook agenda. Yes, it will look great on paper, but only to make you promote fast, leaving a mess behind. Care and love the job, not just the pay.
