I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

It's a job. It's a paycheck. It has catastrophic insurance. Most of the associates are great people. You get a discount card.

    Cons

Management, on the whole, is the most untrained, unskilled, under educated lot that I have ever dealt with. Home Office doesn't have a clue. Way too many demands on department managers, associates and even assistant managers. Not enough employees to take care of business. No one on the sales floor. And the ones who are are pulled to a different department, like Grocery, and leave the rest of the store unattended. Shrink is at an all time high. Yet, no one in AP after 7pm. Employee theft is at an all time high. The job pull sucks. These entitled pieces of garbage don't want to do something called WORK. It takes forever to get rid of the garbage, yet they are firing long term employees. (NO. I wasn't fired. I quit after 11 yrs) The hours they demand are awful. Work/home balance is terrible. Worse than before. I can not work until 11pm and come in at 7am the next day and then work a mid shift the day after. Your health suffers. I don't care how old you are. It still suffers. There are people who want the 2-11pms. There are people who like the mid shift. So. Schedule them!!!!

    Advice to Management

Well. It starts from the top down. So the store managers hands are tied and it goes down the line. Can't blame them totally. It starts at the HOME front.
