I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

If you work hard as an hourly there is plenty of opportunity to advance to assistant. The benefits package offered is good.

    Cons

Advancement beyond assistant gets very political and you are expected to only be in position for a few years before you must advance.

    Advice to Management

Better work life balance. Walmart is not the only thing that should matter in a persons life.

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Other employees great to work with! Nice to get at least a little discount since pay is laughable. Hope you don't have family that's important that you want to spend most holidays (like Thanksgiving) with because family does NOT come 1st when you work here!

    Cons

They DON'T CARE About their employees or their families no matter how much they say they do! They don't come close to paying enough to feed your family & once they get it in their mind to fire someone, they'll come up with any reason to do it! Even when you have PHYSICAL PROOF & WITNESSES that you didn't do anything wrong!! They said it doesn't matter, it's already a done deal! After I was a LOYAL EMPLOYEE over 3 years!!

    Advice to Management

LISTEN TO YOU'RE EMPLOYEES! THEY are the people who talk to & take care of ALL of your customers every single day but you treat them like they (& their needs& families) don't matter! Do you know (or care) how many of them are having a hard time just feeding their families? Most have to have 2+ jobs & public assistance! Everyone DEALS with being treated like crud because they NEED the money so bad!!

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

A very big company to work for. Room for growth. Job security. They offer 401k savings and option to buy Walmart stock.

    Cons

Big company. Treated more as a robot. A trend that I notice is that they hire more part time associates and are getting rid of as many full time associates. Very easy for each associate do the work of 2 to 3 people all the time. Easy to get burned out.

    Advice to Management

Need better pay and offer better benefits.

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Can't think of anything good

    Cons

The DC is a suck fest. Lazy people who are buddies with the manager get away with everything. Walmart is on the decline and it is the management taking it down.

    Advice to Management

Head quarters better start paying attention to the field management. Especially the regional management who should be keeping the DC's all on the same page. The problem is the management knows they can get away with anything because the entire management is a bunch of lazy fat cat good Ole boys. Bad way to run a business.

I have been working at Walmart part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It's a job..right? It's better than nothing. I love my coworkers and some members of management. There are opportunities and perks. I feel it can teach a person the value of a dollar well-earned, albeit it comes at a high cost.

    Cons

I am single and it's hard, if not impossible, when they cut hours and fragment what little hours they do give. By fragment, I mean when they won't set your schedule so that you can get another part-time job to supplement our income Who can live on $9 an hour, 16 hours a week with helter-skelter hours?!!! An employee cannot depend on them to be fair..nor do they seem to care. I would love to work full-time, at least then I would have more income but they really don't care. Walmart does not care about their employees.

    Advice to Management

Pay us more, even a little more would be appreciated. Give us structured, set schedules. Stop talking down to us like we are below you, we aren't! If you have to cut hours, cut some of your own! Appreciate the fact that we, the peons, have to take a lot of BS and rudeness from the public, yet management will treat the customers like gold and us like dirt. Treat us better, pay us more fairly and give us set schedules!

    Pros

The job is challenging and uses many different skills, with a lot of troubleshooting and customer service

    Cons

Rude people, hard work have to stand all day. Insurance companies making things harder on everyone. Only 15 bucks an hour. Long hours time goes by kinda slow

    Advice to Management

Give raises more. Chill out sometimes I love my bosses though great guys all pharmacists are awesome
