I have been working at Walmart part-time for less than a year

    Pros

The fellow Walmart associates are quite friendly and Walmart attempts to provide associates with a friendly workspace and numerous benefits.

    Cons

Often understaffed and still expect associates to be on top of everything even during the rushes and while it is nice to promote management from the inside, this sometimes results in unqualified managers

    Advice to Management

Allocate more hours to avoid being understaffed.

I have been working at Walmart part-time for more than a year

    Pros

You learn how to communicate very well with people. They start off at $9/hr and once you complete the online pathways program for associates you move up to $10/hr. They're very flexible because schedules are made 3 weeks in advanced so if something seems off then let your manager know at least a week or two in advance. They treat you very well as long as you do your job! Customers will treat you with respect as long as...

    Cons

At times it can gets really packed, especially on holidays. Some assistant managers think they're the top stuff and stand around and complain rather then help, like can you be just as fast to help as your are complaining?

    Advice to Management

Please help when you see it's busy.

I worked at Walmart full-time for less than a year

      Pros

Pay is ok if you fight for it when offered

      Cons

You will work 50-60 hours per week and up to 6-14 days straight without a day off. Very cut throat. Taking care of your employees is discouraged. This is why the turn over rate is high. Unattainable goals are set everyday which allows Managers to write coachings to fire people.

      Advice to Management

Stop overworking your employees. You will continue to loose the good ones.

I worked at Walmart for more than a year

      Pros

Absolutely none. The managers are all on power trips and resort to intimidation techniques

      Cons

Managers expect you to move at super-human speeds They don't give you your last paycheck if you walk out and quit, nor does it appear on the moneynetwork paystub site. It flat out just doesn't exist anymore so you end up just giving them free labor for a number of hours

      Advice to Management

Fire yourselves and let competent people be in charge.

I worked at Walmart full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Safe environment, Medical, and Vacation Benefits. Good place to learn the retail industry for entry levels.

      Cons

Heavy physical labor, pressure or stressful due to being under constant micro-time management. While team associates working hard, Managers sit around texting on their phones or sleeping in the office. Managers need to learn how to mentor.

      Advice to Management

Listen to your team and lead by example.
