I have been working at Walmart part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The only reason I'm still here is because I need the money other wise I wouldn't be here. I would say the relationships you build with co workers can be nice you can make good friends. Discount is okay nothing exciting.(10%)

    Cons

However your reprimanded for even speaking to another conworker while on the job if u so much as work in the same aisle your reprimanded. Sad because in interview process they make you watch videos about team work. Managers are careless and stuck up once asked them to get Some one from the back to help me with a heavy lift and she responded no but u can do it your self . It ended up taking four men after my attempt to carry it . Btw this is my experience at Walmart Murphy canyon rd San Diego .

    Advice to Management

Try to be kind instead of using your power to treat employees like slaves and like we're worthless. Don't reprimand us for talking to one another when you stand around talking on your cell phones for good amounts of the day (almost all of them)

I worked at Walmart full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I liked the family oriented environment. I worked with people I would have clean my yard. I miss collection of shopping carts, I don't know why I left.

    Cons

I wish I was able to support my family working there. All I could afford was top ramen and spam to feed my family of 12.

    Advice to Management

Don't act like you own my life. Smile more and take less smoke breaks.

I worked at Walmart part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Its a wonderful environment and lovely coworkers. Walmart companies pay descent wages. You pretty good number of hours a week.

    Cons

It is hard work. And lots of different personalities. Somedays its can be rather slow, but fast on other days.

    Advice to Management

    Try to be understanding more.

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Competitive Salary
New PTO for Salaried Management allowed for individual day usage versus a work week at a time like typical except employees.
Consistent and predictable - its comforting to know your job is secure when you work for the #1 retailer worldwide.

    Cons

Scheduling has changed for worse last year reverting back to longer hours, split days off.
Starting salaries have increased but proportional increases did not happen (salary compression). Pressure is coming down on all field management, not just in the stores, so district and regional management are less engaged with their people than before because I think they fear their job security if they do not drive results.
Job is more suited for someone who doesn't have a family to be honest. Although it's an excellent salary to bring home to a family, you won't be there much for them. -_-

    Advice to Management

Rollout strategic ideas faster - the company will otherwise be left behind. You've invested a lot of money in the hourly Associates but don't forget that your salaried management team is the glue that holds any store together. The way to help them out is invest in the equipment they need to help their Associates do their jobs effectively. The investment would be worth it in the long run.

I have been working at Walmart full-time

    Pros

You don't have to have a degree to move up to high position they promote within the company you get quarterly bonuses full-time employees get affordable benefits you can purchase company stocks

    Cons

Not enough employees scheduled daily makes the other employees have to cover other departments and still responsible for their own. Management rude and disrespectful at times make employees feel overworked and unappreciated.

    Advice to Management

Hire more full-time employees staff all departments with enough workers to do the job treat all employees like you want to be treated if you are short handed respect the few you do have.

I worked at Walmart part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good money for first pharmacy job.
    30 minute lunch break.
    fast paced environment

    Cons

You aren't allowed to miss anymore than 3 days, even if approved.
I had strep throat and got called into a meeting about missing days.. 3 days over 8 months.
Pharmacy was a different world compared to the rest of the store.

    Advice to Management

Hire pharmacists that actually care and want to be there. Only make people management who have the skills. Some 19 year old straight out of highschool with a bad attitude shouldn't be management material.
