I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great pay for retail. Ability to have multiple vacations. Varied jobs to suit interests. Good benefits.

    Cons

Not guaranteed full time hours. You will work multiple departments. Sometimes one person to cover 6 departments. Management wont take your complaints seriously.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. Hire enough people to cover shifts so you dont burn out your good workers.

I have been working at Walmart part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Rate of pay is pretty good, hours of 30+ are nice compared to the other jobs I had worked. Team members are great and everyday is something different.

    Cons

Hard work/life balance as a college student, more so when given 40+ hours a week as time goes on and more people leave. Unorganized managers and supervisors and scheduling issues. Too many people or too few on certain days.

    Advice to Management

More understanding to students, or just people in general. We all need time to decompress

I have been working at Walmart full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I love how everyone is kind and tries to help you be better. It is an environment meant for teaching and advancement.

    Cons

I don't like that there seems to be a shortness of staff a bit more frequently than there should be.

    Advice to Management

Hire more people when you see that it is busier than it used to be if you want the same amount of work to be done in the same amount of time or faster.

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

My management is constantly working with our team, pushing us to better ourselves and our work, helping us in which ever ways we need.

    Cons

Downsides of working with Walmart--I've heard that in a salary position, switching to another team/department/position requires a year or more in the urgent spot. (Of course, exceptions can be made.)

    Advice to Management

Continue doing what you are doing. Continue to improve company and associate morale, bringing that stellar attitude all the way down to store/club level

I worked at Walmart part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It was fun talking with customers and being able to help them out. Working on cars, changing the oil, and mounting tires was enjoyable. I liked that part of the job.

    Cons

It seems that all upper management looks at are costs. At one point in time, our Tire and Lube shop was in the top three in performance in the Utah valley, and was the top performing shop for growth compared to the following year.
I grew allot in the Tire and Lube shop thanks to effort and a Direct Supervisor who cared to show me the ropes. When I moved to management and changed departments, I had no support at all from upper management. Wal-Mart Upper Management runs a skeleton crew, and things don't get done like they should. At part time or full time, you don't get paid enough to afford any kind of benefits. Allot of promotions at my location seemed to be based off of those who brown nosed the upper management.

    Advice to Management

Take some leadership training courses. Learn how to lead rather than demand, Listen to your employees. They know more about the job than you. Stop looking at costs only. Costs are part of the business. You gotta spend money to make money. For example, the tire and lube shop was supposed to take customers in up until 7pm. When we were doing this and working past closing to satisfy those customers needs, our shop was performing well and was one of the top performing shops in the district. However, as soon as upper management told us that we couldn't take in any other client's past 6pm (An hour before closing), we had to send away many customers, and lost a large amount of our customer base. Since your store owns the shop, that action only hurt your store's earnings and performance level.

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    A job
You will learn to work on your own often
Learn to never pick a retail job ever again

    Cons

    Uncaring managers
    High workload for meager pay
    Lack of hours
    Extreme hate for overtime

    Advice to Management

Treat your workers like human beings but it will never happen because they do not and will not care.
