I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    The pay and my coworkers

    Cons

Management is absolutely horrible to work for

    Advice to Management

Respect for the individual goes both ways. Having respect for your employees makes happy employees. That's why no one is happy there.

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The customers were friendly and I enjoyed developing a relationship with them.

    Cons

Staff didn’t work together as a team, turnover was high and management took away needed tech hours.

    Advice to Management

Don’t follow CVS in driving off or firing your staff with increasing responsibilities and metrics to hit while cutting staff and leaving pharmacists with low staff to run the store. Ageism is evident in staff terminations.

I have been working at Walmart part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Higher than average minimum wage, flexible hours for all situations, easy access to food so you don’t have to leave on lunch.

    Cons

Management absolutely disrespectful, don’t appreciate hard work, don’t give opportunities fairly, play favorites.

    Advice to Management

Recognize hard work, appreciate your associates, make them feel like they are making a difference and they will be more willing to continue hard work. When someone isn’t performing well, pull them aside and ask if something’s wrong or give advice to help, don’t always just assume we’re not doing it because we just don’t want to. Be more considerate. Communication is key.

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The best reasons are the benefits, solid 40 hours a week, and the good people you meet. Some of the people you will meet are the coolest and nicest people you will ever have the pleasure of knowing.

    Cons

The bad people outweigh the good people. People will try to get you fired if they don't like you and it's awful. Threaten you, make up rumors, and try to fight you. And most of the time, management won't do much about it other than tell you to stay away from them. The major con I've had with walmart is the bad people they hire that are just there for a check and don't like people that work hard for their money because it makes them look bad.

    Advice to Management

They think they know what goes on everywhere, they don't. Put a man on the inside of your departments and crews and see why there's so many problems.
