I worked at Walmart part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I had been ill for a while, and Walmart made many adjustments for me so I could work there. I miss my job, but my health had to come first.

    Cons

I feel that Walmart is causing difficulty for itself by not having more full-time positions. While the flexible scheduling is helpful for some of us for others it does not pay the bills.

    Advice to Management

Remember that your greatest asset is your people. If you lose sight of what the employees do to keep your company going it will come to an abrupt stop when you least expect it.

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Steady pay and you'll always have something to do.

    Cons

From what I've seen at two separate stores: upper management does not treat their associates very well. I'm not sure if it's all the pressure that Assistant Managers and Co Managers are facing, but whatever it is the lower teams get hit hard with criticism and sometimes down right rude. I've even tried helping some associates report abuse from some managers but nothing ever came from it. They simply had to just keep coming to work and dealing with it.

    Advice to Management

Understand that your associates are human beings and honestly work very hard. It would be nice that you could hold whatever internal frustrations that you have with your own job to yourself and not take it out on everyone else.

I worked at Walmart part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Easy hire
    Easy job
The hours are good for a full-time college student because fabric closes at 10.
Management was very friendly and worked with my hours.

    Cons

    Most customers are rude
    Management knew nothing about fabrics
    Low staffed
So low staffed that when i was hired i was the only on working in fabrics.
Even lower staffed that they had me working basicly one half of the store,
usually with a manager. (seasonal, celebrations, sporting goods, toys and fabrics and crafts.)
    Lots of returns/

    Advice to Management

    Hire more people.

I worked at Walmart full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I had a lot of experience and they have good benefits. 41k they match your dollar up to 6%. You can purchase stocks.

    Cons

Too much work not enough people. If salary you work way more than what they pay. You don't bonus every year. Sometimes they cut hours ridiculously. You have to work all holidays.

    Advice to Management

Be careful with what you do. Anyone is replaceable even if you have been there 10 years.
