I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Excelllent pay, benefits, and Associates.

    Cons

There are some "old school"managers that don't team build but try to lead by intimidation.

    Advice to Management

Weed out ALL old school managers that lead by intimidation. Have Market Managers follow corporate rules about managers work schedules - no 14 day straight days. A well run store can work the corporate schedules and be successful.

I worked at Walmart part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The employee discount during the holidays was nice.

    Cons

Management is horrible, pay is very low, benefits are very expensive, time off accrual is pathetic. I wouldn't wish my worst enemy to work there. The company is open every day and expect you to work every holiday.

    Advice to Management

Walmart is a billion dollar company they can afford to pay their employees a livable wage. The cart pushers work the hardest and get paid the least. Management need training on how to speak to employees. Company should have better benefits for its employees. employees should get at minimum 2wks vacation each year.

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits, reasonable pay once you make Department Manager or higher. Potential to bonus and paid days off.

    Cons

Lack of training. Lack of physical support. Unrealistic at times. Stressful for no reason. Reporting situations to Ethics is also a joke!!!!

    Advice to Management

Give people on hands training. Listen to concerns and don't belittle us. Show appreciation more often.

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

10% discount is OK I guess. Some customers can be friendly and pleasant to deal with. I honestly can't think of any other pros.

    Cons

Weird hours, low pay, very unmotivated staff, and management seems incompetent no matter which store you go to. Very difficult to get recognized for your work.

    Advice to Management

    Follow your own rules

I worked at Walmart part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, and hours. If you work your way up you'll like the positions and pay, however at a beginning level it is rough.

    Cons

Unloading trucks and sorting items by hand. Depending on position and location it can be a bad environment to work in and sometimes hard to stay on.

    Advice to Management

Get to know your employees in some way.
