I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Room to grow in the company. Walmart loves to promote from within so moving up once you get hired is easy.

    Cons

Turn over rate is high and if you're a manager you're constantly having to train new people and work with people that don't quite know what they're doing. On top ofnthat the work load can be stresfull and the hours can be rough

    Advice to Management

    Ditch customer first scheduling

    Pros

Benefits, stability, availability to move to different locations, pay.

    Cons

Don't spend time or energy in the development of the leadership team. Not a lot of opportunity for advancement. Home office jobs consistently cut so no sense of security.

    Advice to Management

Focus on the development of the leadership team. Give them the tools to successfully do their job.

I have been working at Walmart part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The pros that I can think of about working at Walmart is that I have great Associates. If I did not like my associates and care about them I would not be working here and it would not have lasted longer than about a month. Another Pro is sometimes they will hand out food on special occasions such as Thanksgiving or other holidays. And it is a pretty easy job.

    Cons

There are many cons about working at Walmart. I think the one that bothers me the most is that they do not hire enough people so the people who are working that day have to hop between other departments because they didn't have enough people put on the schedule for that day this means, that people have to learn a job that isn't even theirs and that they were not trained for. Understandably, as a customer this could cause some frustration. And as an employee this also causes frustration.
Another con is that management says that they care about all their employees but 90% of them actually do not. They rarely move people up to full time, in fact the only people I know that have full-time hours are managers. Not only that, we do not get paid enough to put up with the shity customers that we get and this annoys me because Walmart is such a huge corporation they can afford to pay us more.

    Advice to Management

Hire more people, give them more people raises, have the managers more involved, fire people who need to be fired not just the ones that miss work.
