I worked at Walmart part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

If you have a good store mgr.and asst mgrs. it can be a nice place to work .

    Cons

They promote people who are in a click with the asst. mgrs. who a lot of them can't do the job without help. They take you off the floor to unload the trailer full of material for the store , they have you run out into the lot to get carts when then have people to do that job. They have you clean up other areas of the store at the far side from where you are supposed to cover. They now have a point system that they use to fire a person with , there is no recourse you have no one to speak up for you as they are non- union and they know they can just pick up another person because of the job market. They have such a turnover of people there it's not even funny ! If they don't like you they will find some lame reason to let you go i.e. you took a couple min. on a break or you went to the bathroom you should do that on your break .

    Advice to Management

Hire enough people to cover all depts. Hire people whose only job is to unload the trucks and take care of the back room when they are done with the trucks. Promote people who can really get the job done without help , alot of people have been there for years and don't even get looked at for a opening .

I have been working at Walmart full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Competitive pay, decent training before being put to full work.

    Cons

Management is harsh, communication is horrible. Broken and old equipment we are still expected to use. You are always one toe out of line to being fired, making it a very stressful environment.

    Pros

third shift workers get 40 hours a week and a set schedule

    Cons

some managers forget the people there are employees not friends and will let others get away with things.

    Advice to Management

check in on your people more often and make sure people are doing their jobs and not making other people take on others work load because a manager wants to hang out with an employee.

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Most of the people I worked with, a couple of managers, having benefits, workers discount, not being killed by shooters

    Cons

One person getting a job needing 3 people accomplished. Then getting written up for not being productive, when you only had a short amount of time to finish what was an 8 hour job...

    Advice to Management

Act like you care about the people you mamage
