decent benefits, helping people feel better, meeting some great customers

    Cons

Undervalued, high stress no appreciation, poor management , internal strife

    Advice to Management

Get rid of employees who bully other employees, I worked with other employees who quit, transferred out or were looking for another job due to one co-worker who bullied others constantly.

I worked at Walmart full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Co-workers were awesome, but some were not so great which management didn't care. I had Sundays off and was promoted to full time pretty quickly. I was in electronics so pay was the highest you could get without being a csm/department manger. Overall it was a decent experience but there were some cons.

    Cons

Even tho' I was full time I always only got 34-35 hours a week, right at the cusp of the minimum (they consider fulltime 34+) so it stunk only getting the minimum full time hours. Also when you had co-workers who were not hard workers, management didn't do much to correct it. Basically if you were a hard worker or a bad one, management still viewed you as the same, which makes you feel like you aren't being recognized for your hard work. Also management really doesn't care much about you all the time, you try to talk to them but don't seem to care. My biggest complaint is how management view regular employees as beneath them. Management was great towards management but when it came to a regular employee, well they treat you much differently. I eventually left because I have a degree in history and needed a full time job until I found something more suitable for my degree, which I finally did.

    Advice to Management

Stop viewing your regular associates as if they are beneath you, at least act like you care about them. Also you should boost your full time minimum to 36 -38 hours a week, not 34.

I worked at Walmart part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The folks I worked with were great. Real people who were just trying to get by. Loved working with customers.

    Cons

I worked in the cash office for a couple of years. I learned too much. There is a dark and unhealthy money-driven side to Walmart. One that would make a person angry to see the wealth gap.

    Advice to Management

Don't ask someone to do something that you haven't done or wouldn't do yourself.

    Pros

They pay us $9 hourly $10 if we finish our CBLs
    We get an hour lunch
If i forgot to bring in my lunch i can still buy something to eat.
    Some coworkers are really nice
they allowed you to work a lot of hours as long as you dont go over 40 hours

    Cons

I knew how to run the whole store and never got promoted.
Managers keep asking me what do they need to do.
Never got appreciated for the fast service i give to our customers.
coworkers, supervisors and managers all like to gossip about customers and coworkers in front of thier customers while doing a transaction.
Managers will tell you the rules and when to say no to the customer but when it happens they allow the customer to do what they want and make you look brand new.

    Advice to Management

Please make rules that you can all agree on and follow them as well. Dont make us look brand new in front of customers when your the ones giving us all these rules. Listen to your employees because you will start losing them. Make it clear to everyone that talking negative stuff in front of customers is unprofessional. Let your employees know they are doing a good job when you see it. Dont walk away from us when we are talking to you we need to be heard as well as our customers.

I have been working at Walmart (Less than a year)

    Pros

flexible schedule, decent pay compared to similar jobs at different companies, hour lunch

    Cons

some management slacks off, some departments are understaffed

    Advice to Management

they need to figure out a way to make sure all associates are doing their fair share of work. some associates are scheduled to do more work than others but get paid the same and sometimes less than everyone else. some departments are more difficult to work in than others but most of them get paid the same as everyone else. that doesnt make sense. if your work is more difficult than someone elses, you should get paid more period. this is less of an issue now that the new wage increases and pay bands have been implemented.

    Pros

Hourly supervisory positions are among the best spots to be at with Walmart. Good pay and hours.

    Cons

Assistant manager is one of the roughest positions since you are the one delegating and the expectations are very high, and often unachievable.

    Advice to Management

Follow up, delegate and plan ahead.
