I worked at Walmart full-time for more than a year

    Pros

If you enjoy a variety of tasks and never want to be bored, working here during holiday season would be fun for you. Management is fairly nice. It’s a big store with plenty of opportunities to move up if you network.

    Cons

Coworkers are lazy, get away with not working, don’t care about customers or the store. Department managers barely make more than normal associates, so they lack incentive to care. They will fire you without question (even if there is no coverage in your department) if you go over on your “occurrences” which are only 5 and include late, absence, and coachings

    Advice to Management

Spend more time with your associates. One on ones are important and make the associate feel valued.

I worked at Walmart full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The system is nice. I learned a lot while working there.

    Cons

The pay isn’t very much. Can be quite stressful at times. Just like most jobs there are the people who work hard and also have to pick up slack for those who don’t work hard.

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at Walmart full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Hourly staff helps each other as much as they can. Good Camaraderie amongst most hourly associates and department managers.

    Cons

    Not enough associates high expectations

    Advice to Management

There are teachable, retrainable moments with salaried members of management when dealing with associates. Management seems to get power hungry with their positions and play favorites. If you are on their good side, things run smoothly but if you have one disagreement or try to make suggestions to make things smoother they sometimes avoid you and your requests or try to run you out.
