I worked at Walmart part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good place to work. Okay management. Only part time so I can't comment on benefits. Employees work together, nice staff.

    Cons

No upward mobility. Difficult scheduling and switching shifts. No benefits unless full time and hard to switch from part time to full time.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees more. Increase wages and allow partial benefits for part time work. Make scheduling more flexible.

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Fast environment never bored, decent benefits employee discounts.

    Cons

Shady management, they will tell you one thing and another manager will tell you something different. Some of the rudest customers in America shop here.

    Advice to Management

Changing policies constantly will not help your stores in the long run. And remember you're number one rule to treat individuals with respect and not play favorites.

    Pros

Too many people think they are in charge. They constantly pull you away from your zone to do the unloading of the trucks because they are too cheap to hire enough people for the back.

    Cons

There are nothing but cons with this company. They make you take a long lunch if you happen to go over the time you have been scheduled. Its a pathetic run company. Its no wonder most the employees have to be on public assistance.

    Advice to Management

Go through training on how damaging it is to morale when you constantly micro manage your employees.

I have been working at Walmart full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Can't think of many except the management is pretty friendly and approachable. I lost some weight from all the heavy lifting...

    Cons

Terrible pay for the amount of physical labor. The "training" was not relevant to my job at all. Highly unorganized.

    Advice to Management

Please fix your training! Being an inventory control specialist and having to memorize all these bin codes of where merchandise goes really should have been included in my training, not spending six hours watching videos about sam walton and how great he was.

I worked at Walmart part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Consistent, Friendly Coworkers, Good Training

    Cons

Unprofessional, Fast-paced, Overwhelming, Dirty Environment, Unappreciative Customers

    Advice to Management

Some advice for upper management would be to keep an eye out for lower management/zone managers. Sometimes they don't necessarily do their jobs well or actually manage their employees. Also, the Walmart I worked at was extremely understaffed and led to disgruntled customers and worn down employees. The employees are also rarely thanked or appreciated for the work they do and the services they provide. Being a cashier, I understand that my job wasn't necessarily the most demanding, but I think standing for 6-8 hours and having to put up with a lot from angry customers while still maintaining a good attitude should be rewarded with at least a simple "thank you."

    Pros

positive attitude and the mangers and co-workers, were always willing to give a helping hand.

    Cons

nothing was wrong with working with this Wal-Mart I really enjoys it.

    Advice to Management

be willing to give second chances.

    Pros

Flexible shifts, any schedule you need to work around they will. the starting pay was quite a bit higher than other stores, very casual and fun work environment.

    Cons

Hardly any chance for advancement, no communication from management to other employees. Horrible benefits packge, very expensive and you get nothing out of it. The starting pay is high but after that you're pretty much stuck.

    Advice to Management

    Better communication!
