I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Hard working, great people that give 150%, a low pay check.

    Cons

Managers are unprofessional, lie, play favorites, steal and do drugs,
No advancement for hard workers, advancement for the favorites who don't work,
Asked daily to do the work of associates that don't work, walk around, or on there phones instead of doing there work, with managers see this and doing nothing, managers getting a few to do others work to get it done and look good to corporate, no raises if not a favorite, open door policy is a joke, and reported to corporate and swept under the rug to avoid lawsuit. Corporate should clean up the Wilmington DE store, but i guess it is making money, but you could make a lot more with all good people and managers that do there jobs.

    Advice to Management

Corporate should get trained managers in that store, to stop the high turnover of workers,

  4. "Amazingly bad. Parts of my store resemble a garage sale rather than an organized multimillion dollar store."

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The longer you're there the more you finally meet a couple people you click with and they make coming to work tolerable. The stores so big if you want to loose a few pounds you'll do it easily because you have to walk so much. Most people do their job just enough to get by, if you do you job even slightly better than average you usually can transition into a higher hourly wage by taking a daytime support of department manager position (although the amount of work and pressure may not be worth the extra couple bucks per hour they give).

    Cons

This is for my store only. I have no experience at any other locations. But I'm sure it's possible at other stores. If you work overnight some managers want to look good by emptying out the freight area of the backroom. If it won't fit on the shelf because it's overstocked they often ask you to make space for it using area for an out of stock item. When that item comes in it therefore won't fit, so you do the same thing to the next etc. this screws up the ordering of the stores computer and you get over orders of freight for items the system thinks is selling well. All of this is against officially policy and it screws of the stores planograms. It could also get you fired except your immediate manager is the one who's pushing you to do it. Issues like this example happen often where I am. You don't make enough to be able to argue the point and rush you job, and you know eventually it's going to catch up with everyone so you become part of the secret agenda. Most people don't follow even the basic safety rules taught in the computer. When you point out all of these things you're told to just get stuff on the shelf and keep quiet. Nobody seems to care until it hits the fan, then nobody is held accountable. Even complaints of people stealing time and walking around talking on mobile phones while you busy your butt go unanswered and ignored. They do half their job and paid the same.

    Advice to Management

Read what I've written. I you see someone who's busting their butt even if they are level A, hide that person an extra dollar an hour. He or she isn't working at the same product iris level as half the slackers who work for you, so why are they paid the same? Read all complaints that personnel receives, even if they're five months old and before you got there. Know the problems even the ones you weren't around for so you can make changes and keep good people working for you.
