I worked at Walmart full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Opportunities, Compensation, Professional, Respectful, Community Engagement

    Cons

The finance organization has an identity crisis. They use to have the respect and power to influence the organization but have since lost that. There has been a lot of inequity displayed over the past several years, promoting people for the wrong reasons. They need a change at the CFO level.

    Advice to Management

Be careful with your promotion decisions and the subjective style of people advancement. The Finance org has been squeezed to reduce resources so much so, that everyone is working below their level, have few to no reports, lack the time to add real strategic value. Reinvest in the function and deliver what your internal customers want. Pause your efforts to build the world's best of class org and just go help the... business.

I have been working at Walmart full-time

    Pros

Many avenues available to take for career growth opportunities.

    Cons

Too much transformation is occurring too frequently. This does not give associates enough time to learn and execute efficiently.

    Advice to Management

Foster a collaborative and not competitive environment.

    I worked at Walmart full-time

    Pros

Fast paced agile environment. Lots of great projects and initiatives to work on. Tech managers, PMs, product owners know their stuff. Great upbeat atmosphere.

    Cons

Some initiatives aren’t truly championed or supported as they should be, such as CI/CD, agile team training. Lots of initiatives are geared towards holidays, so be prepared to support some holiday work.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Walmart full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good benefits and competitive pay. Bentonville/Rogers is great area to raise a family and cost of living is low.

    Cons

Due to sheer size, jobs tend to be narrower and deeper. You may not get the chance to learn many areas of the business since jobs tend to be narrowly focused but a need for a high understanding of the area in which you work. Walmart HR is prejudiced against straight white males and they are much less likely to be promoted.

    Advice to Management

You can't make up for perceived prejudice in one area by suppressing the opposite group in another.
