I worked at Walmart full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

For corporate positions, flexibility of work location, hours, dress code, open door policy

    Cons

Difficult to get a feel for the company due to size (departments are constantly being created, names changed, elimination of, etc) , understand you are just an employee there (look out for yourself); it is preferable to have spent time in the stores in the field prior to holding a headquartered position.

I worked at Walmart for more than 10 years

    Pros

Diverse ability to promote and move within the company. Positions across retail, logistics, technology, advanced analytics, replenishment, product development.....

    Cons

Changes in review process and significant organizational change focused on lowering expenses. Allot of great talent let go.

    Advice to Management

Not just about managing expenses, must also be focused on long and short term strategy.

I have been working at Walmart full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Compensation Equity Talented coworkers Recently remodeled offices Beautiful location with nature, restaurants, activities always available. Downtown area Great schools Diverse staff Interesting speakers/enrichment activities

    Cons

Overworked Constant layoffs and stress Resistance of change/technology/new ideas by management that has been there decades. Culture is all talk. Constant reminders of what culture/ethics supposed to be, but little followthrough. Culture equals PR campaign and that's about it. Parking is horrendous. As someone who travels to different building often, it's not unusual to search for parking for 15 min and then walk... 15-25 minutes to the door. Major time suck if you do this a couple times a day.

    Advice to Management

Walmart corporate has gone exceedingly downhill in the last couple years. Random layoffs all through the year increase stress dramatically. And once someone is let go, the rest of the team just gets more work/responsibility and they are just supposed to be grateful they have a job. Really talented coworkers, but overall stress not worth it. Similar compensation and less stress in management at other retailers.

I have been working at Walmart full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great experience for those who want to learn retail. Most complex supply chain so great experience for supply chain folks.

    Cons

No memory for good work. Very tribal in its treatment . HR does not do any talent management. Unless you are from Woolsworth don't expect growth.

    Advice to Management

Please do all changes at once.
