I have been working at Walmart eCommerce full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    1. Great opportunities to learn, especially for fresh graduates beginning their careers. 2. Flexible hours and work schedules...depending on the group. 3. Decent perks, salary, and overall comp. 4. Diversity is great and aggressively promoted.

    Cons

    1. Nepotism in hiring. 2. Lack of transparency in a lot of things. 3. Reporting structure is lopsided..as a data scientist your scope to grow might be limited unless you are heavily IT focused. 4. Because of the above reasons, possible to find yourself reporting to someone not competent enough.

I have been working at Walmart eCommerce full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good work-life balance. Flexible working time. High quality/amount of data which allows to do all kinds of R&D and see amazing results which could have a significant impact on Walmart's market performance.

    Cons

Data Scientists here are expected to do end-to-end projects, from data collection to modeling, implementation and deployment. Also, multitasking is required. More and more people coming in and rooms/spaces/parking are limited.

I worked at Walmart eCommerce for less than a year

    Pros

You get to work with some of the smartest people in their field. Also, your work will have great impact because of the scale of Walmart.

    Cons

The perks are not as good as some other IT company. For example, no free cafeteria. But overall it is still not bad. Snacks, connection shuttle between different sites, etc

I have been working at Walmart eCommerce full-time for more than a year

    Pros

This is a legitimately good place if you're interested in working with big data, particularly in a retail setting. The company has a very Silicon Valley feel, so there's (generally) pretty good work-life balance, a very casual atmosphere, and an emphasis on getting things done rather than showing your face around the office.

    Cons

The pace of life can be a little slower than some smaller companies. You won't get much exposure to all aspects of the data pipeline as working with ETL is pretty much a full time job here.

I have been working at Walmart eCommerce full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Smart and talented people to work with, exciting and interesting projects to work on, good opportunity to grow as a data scientist. Flexible working schedule.

    Cons

New employees do not get team-level orientation after joining the team. They have to figure out what others in the same big team are doing.

    Advice to Management

Provide team-level orientation to new employees.
