I worked at Walmart eCommerce part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It was a job at a time when I needed one.

    Cons

Some of the managers had ego problems, some of the women who were long-time employees felt like they ran the store. Also, Walmart talks alot about employees being able to advance and move up in the company but I did not see that. I had taken and passed the management assessment test, and I asked repeatedly about advancing and was met with negative responses although I received high marks on my employee evaluation, never had any write-ups or coachings.

    Advice to Management

Look beyond keeping good employees in low positions to fit your needs. Many employees would welcome the opportunity to move up to be able to better provide for their families and enjoy life.

Fast-paced environment, flat organization, so there are many opportunities for career development. Organization is on the leading edge of change in retail and tech industries.

    Cons

Dynamic environment, so it's difficult to get in a groove with daily responsibilities. Requires a high degree of adaptability. Systems have not been updated, creating challenges to get good data quickly and easily.
