I worked at Walmart full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Opportunity to learn a lot with all the different areas and domains. Many different Career paths to choose from.

    Cons

They have too many levels of management, managers who shouldn't be managers, not enough diversity training, and if you say anything that's outside of the box of how they think and behave, you will no longer have a job.

    Advice to Management

Believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see. Please stop allowing other associates to bring things to you about another associate. Everyone is supposed to be adults. Therefore, I do not see any reason why, if an associate has an issue or finds that an associate may not be fully understanding, or whatever the issue may be, that they can't sit down and have a mature discussion regarding it.

    Pros

Great experience for resume and learning what not to do in business.

    Cons

Doesn't value education or forward thinking individuals. Their diversity and inclusion is a joke.

I have been working at Walmart full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The experience at Walmart Corporate will depend on the department and the team you're in. I work in International Compliance and so far it has been positive experience. The leadership is knowledgeable and subject matter experts, even more importantly, they have tremendous leadership skills. They care about the associates well being. Every other week I hear about someone going as an expat to another country or there... is a promotion. If you care about the job and are dedicated you will grow. The 401k benefits are great, six percent match dollar per dollar and the bonus are high. It's an incredible company to work for, not close to what is described by media outlets.

    Cons

The medical insurance is not a good, you are responsible for a high percentage of the cost. Vacation time: not happy with the amount of days for low level management. I think vacation should be accumulative, there's just few days to take vacation. Employees are happier when they have unlimited amount of days and that happiness is reflected in revenue returns (so it is found by studies) Training: because a lot of... people are focused managing expenses ( which is fine) they don't encourage training. It is important to have the best, and the way to accomplish it is to keep up with the industry, attend conferences and training.

    Advice to Management

Revamp ISD. Bring the best and pay them well so we stop having inefficiencies at the Home Offices and systems that don't work with each other. The money invested in knowledgeable/skillful employees you will get it back in returns. That way also you will have less vendors and more employees, which will save money.

I worked at Walmart full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

I have no pros for working at the corporate offices. The company contributes a lot of money to many charities.

    Cons

Stress, long hours, too many meetings, bad managers, managers that can't let go & want to have their hand in everything. Rarely seeing anything come to fruition.

    Advice to Management

Employees should be able to provide yearly reviews of their supervisors. The yearly grassroots survey doesn't cut it. Way too much money spent on projects that never happen.

I have been working at Walmart full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good opportunities for advancement. Good people to work with. Build lots of relationships, lots of jobs to do. You can do one thing for awhile and then get exposure to all kinds of stuff.

    Cons

A little more taxing than recruiters let on. The expectation is to work at the level above you until you've "proven" yourself to get a promotion
