I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Developing managers, merchandising, customer centered, pay rate, incentives and benefits, career opportunities, experience of learning total store, hiring, dress code.

    Cons

Long hours, multi tasking, change of tasks on demand, changing hours of shifts every six months, lack of hours for hourly.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your people and they will take care of you

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

None anymore. If you find a good store, people can be friendly

    Cons

Hours, Favoritism, pay, expectations, poor management, unethical company now

    Advice to Management

If management doesn't like you, you will be gone. They find the most ridiculous reasons to write you up and get you out of there. They are very "clique-ish" and play favorites. The worst part is that the company does not follow their own core values anymore. It wasn't always like that and it is very sad. With their competitors and the online businesses flourishing, I can only predict worse things for he future of this company. Getting out was the best thing for me and my family.

    Pros

    Good pay, advancement, benefits

    Cons

To stressful hours changed if getting a. Visit or if we got a bad visit from regionals....no matter if you had plans it wasn't optional...long hrs......when you wk over night you expected to clean up what day left and plus 4 to 6 trucks a night plus clean and recover the store with about 18 associates per night...if you know nothing about retail then you will not understand but that's kinda of a night you need about 35 associates to complete, plus the bk of the building and parking lot must be cleaned.....then are manger will come in and act like you wad sitting in the office all night when everything didn't get complete...just treat people like they don't matter....

    Advice to Management

Great your managers better and with respect.......

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Always opportunities to try something new, Good benefits if you have a second income to take advantage of 401-K and stock investment programs, insurance, etc
Opportunity to meet all kinds of people.

    Cons

Typical Retail, working nights and weekends is going to be part of schedule. Company ideals are on track, but individual store Managers follow or not follow . First store I worked at for 15 years had good and bad managers, but a good core staff (Small Town). Store I transferred to in Larger City there is no sense of community or working together. Lots of turnover. Poor mentoring. Lack of training is always an issue .

    Advice to Management

Store leadership sets the tone for each individual store. Management needs to buy into your programs. Most of the bad store managers don't "Cheerlead " the staff into the bigger goals. Instead they focus on the short term " fix it list" from the higher ups and push the pressure down the line until everyone is too stressed to come to work!!!

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

You meet great people, pay isn't bad, doesn't require massive amounts of debt due to student loans to move up.

    Cons

Corporate screws the bottom line to keep their money in their pockets. Some management are quite horrible. Customers are horrible. Hours worked vs pay isn't balanced, for example my hourly pay when i left would have been $13 for a Shift Manager.
