I worked at Walt Disney Imagineering full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

A very creative campus with some exciting projects to work on.

    Cons

Devastating layoffs can take place when large projects come to a close. Too many layers of management and bureaucracy cause obstruction between creative thinkers and creative artists. Financial objectives now have extremely high priority over the creative and artistic process. Before corporate changeover, Imagineering was an outstanding place to work.

    Advice to Management

You can't deliver the same for less.

I have been working at Walt Disney Imagineering full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits if your a Project Hire. Amazing to work with brilliant and creative people on cool projects.

    Cons

Bad behavior goes unchecked by management and the politics is just as bad.

    Advice to Management

Mentorship is important, don't treat contractors like 3rd class citizens, management needs to stop protecting abusive employees.

I have been working at Walt Disney Imagineering full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good variety of projects, innovative culture. There are some genuinely brilliant minds and creative wizardry but it comes at heavy cost.

    Cons

Limited project resources on site - much of the time is wasted dealing with outside vendors and legal wrangling rather than focusing on doing actual work in house.

Such a large corporate machine makes it impossible to be nimble and dynamic, reacting fast to situations doesn't happen. It can take two months to get a 30day trial software approved for testing, in which time circumstances have likely changed.

No overtime pay or catered meals when working late. Zero IT or system engineering support. Burnout everywhere.

    Advice to Management

Rethink the entire senior management strategy, show your employees they are valued and help them reach their potential.
