    Pros

Working with creative, passionate people makes the day go by pretty quickly. Lots of change in the air, but it sure beats any other gig I've ever had.

    Cons

Sometimes the typical corporate red-tape gets bothersome, but there is always a way to work around/with it.

I have been working at Walt Disney Imagineering full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

No one else does what we do. Some try, but with the ultimate requirement of having to produce a consistent return on investment. Imagineering gets to develop and design without the need to immediately cash in on those efforts.

    Cons

We're a cog in a global organization. Everything is slow to react and even slower to change. Massive amounts of management make approvals challenging.

    Advice to Management

Clear org charts and real open door policies might clue you in to the feelings of the working level teams.

    Pros

A wonderful team to work with. Huge amount of talented people there!!!
I learned so much there and really loved the work

    Cons

Hired on as a contract employee, after a year I really wanted to stay but the " head count" made it not possible.

    Advice to Management

Consider hiring contract designers we love the work.

I have been working at Walt Disney Imagineering full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Lots of available resources; projects that will be seen by millions.

    Cons

Lots of silos. Very big, complex organization. Not enough cross-discipline collaboration.

    Advice to Management

Create project teams in new ways less concerned about titles and more focused on contributor potential.

I have been working at Walt Disney Imagineering full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Body of work, creativity, IP, incredibly smart people, large organization with amazing benefits and high pay / bonus & retention

    Cons

Very political, people stab each other and will do anything and everything to posture for better positions. Stuck on legacy of Walt and despite change in management the old gang is out and new gang is in

    Advice to Management

    - articulate what your vision is
    - promote people that deserve ( even if you don't like them )
    - understand that there are many layers and current leaders in place at SVP are filtering a lot of truth out

    Pros

Great projects, work with creative people and nice perks. Fun environment with events and parties for employees and consultants.

    Cons

The hierarchy in which people are hired. Consultants, Consultants who already who work for a firm who is on loan to WDI, Project Hires, Staff. Once a project is over consultants and PH are the first to be let go but actually may be more experienced and team player than someone who is technically on staff. I have seen a lot of great talent let go.

    Advice to Management

On paper the numbers look good to just hire outside consultants. But it takes years to learn proper coordination for theme park design and construstion and Disney Culture. WDI is not like other Disney companies. Bob Chapek is looking at "profit"/saving over talent. He has to realize that he can't just slice and dice WDI.

I worked at Walt Disney Imagineering full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You get to work on truly amazing projects with very rewarding results, especially if you have a family. The park perks and benefits are fairly decent, especially in the themed entertainment industry. There are great people to work with who share your passion and dedication to creating "the magic", and then there aren't.

    Cons

Not everyone still needs to be around, but because of the staff and project hire system, many PH people get passed over while staff members remain that nobody wants to work with. The PH system is difficult to come to terms with and results in a loss of really good talent on a fairly regular basis.

    Advice to Management

Evaluate staff and PH evenly after each project. You have invested in both, so both may be assets worth keeping. When changes need to happen, they need to happen quickly. Rip the bandage off quickly so that you can get back to work.
