I have been working at Warnaco Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great corporate environment, focussed on challenging your mind as well as your body. Excellent management group open to share and help mentor personnel. Upper management fosters open door policy.

    Cons

The down town location is a challenge to get to and being in a high-rise with many other companies is a constant task for parking and vendor access. All the security that comes with being in alive studio facility limits free access to grounds. Lunch options are 15 min walk away.

    Advice to Management

Continue to keep personnel in the loop to foster a greater sense of team.

  2. "Hard work and effort rarely recognized, upper management is completely disconnected from the product."

I have been working at Warnaco Group full-time

    Pros

Good Pay, 2 free personal days

    Cons

Only 1/8th the office actually works a 40hr work week.

    Advice to Management

Rather an idea to ponder: Why would a company president be promoted after having completely ignored and allowed one of the two brands he was responsible for to fail?

I have been working at Warnaco Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Local management strives to build into the local associates. They voice the local concerns to the corporate partners even when it seems to fall on deaf ears. Local associates are provided many small things such as luncheons and various award programs.

    Cons

Local headcounts are so tight that it leaves no room growing outside of the current position. Although growth is encouraged verbally, time constraints leave little time for the activities that will lead to the growth.

    Pros

    -Work-Life Balance
-Decent pay and benefits; summer Fridays are nice
    -Casual dress code
-Nice enough people except some of upper management could change

    Cons

    -Little opportunity to grow
-Many positions are not well paid

    Advice to Management

If you are going to ask the questions be prepared to take action to make it a better place to work. Don't talk to talk if you aren't prepared to walk the walk.

    Pros

Great place to work; wonderful people
    Relaxed Atmosphere
    Flexible Hours

    Cons

Little potential for growth and career advancement

    Advice to Management

Warnaco is a well-run company but should continue to allow lower-level employees with opportunity for advancement rather than looking to hire from outside the company.

    Pros

fair salary, great benefits, good quality of life balance, good time off. summer fridays

    Cons

cannot comment on upper management (CEO, COO etc) but VP and down seem to be clueless in the area and field i am employed in. My direct manager only knows how to manage by intimidation and has a personality disorder so i wouldnt judge based on that. overall good solid company

    Advice to Management

hire some management that knows about other areas than there expertise if you are going to assign them to run other types of businesses. Allow direct reports to voice opinion on their manager when manager is inappopriate and borderline abusive.

    Pros

Warnaco Group offers brand recognition and a great place to gain experience in the apparel industry. There is a team oriented environment that provides great exposure to a variety of different fucntions and business. Its a good place to start a career.

    Cons

Some of the downsides of working for Warnaco is its philosphy and practices in supporting any shared service function. There is rarely a committment to invest in or upgrade any type of infrastructure to improve back office efficiences and often not enough people to manually perform the job. Although improvement has been seen over the past 3 years, engagement survey scores are still below average and after the last round of deep layoffs, I expect that number will get worse. Leadership tends to be secretive which creates a very gossip and speculation infused environment. Reward and recognition is NON EXISTENT and poor performance is not managed.

    Advice to Management

Listent to employees and take seriously the feedback you receive. Get rid of senior managers that eat up alot of salary and don't earn a days worth of work. Fill the board room with leaders who have the courage to stand up to the CEO.
