Pros
Some of the events were okay.
Cons
- Low pay - Crazy hours (everyone starts on nightshift working from 11pm-7:30am) - Little opportunity for shift change or career growth - Management changes rules all the time (many are arbitrary or mainly just exist to spy on the workers) with inconsistent enforcement - Poor communication between upper management and workers - At one point they let go a large portion of our department and then in a few months needed to hire new people to fill the roles. They let the highest-paid employees go to make room for new graduates who would be willing to be paid more. Then they started hiring contract workers, which they did not need to do and would not pay them benefits or give them off days - Contract workers end up making less than they did in their contract when becoming a full-time employee - The job mostly involves sitting in a room with hundreds of channels and you just flip through each channel for 8 hours a day - Workers have to ask to go to the bathroom and only get one 30 unpaid lunch break and two 15-minute breaks throughout the day - Then you sit in your pod for an additional 30 minutes since your lunchbreak is unpaid and they won't let you leave even though someone else has already taken over for you - Management does not respond when workers sit down to address concerns - The employees need desperately to unionize

Pros
Before the Discovery merger, Warner Bros. fostered a fantastic work culture characterized by compassion and collaboration. The atmosphere was enjoyable, and teamwork was exceptional, creating a positive environment for employees to thrive in. I loved my job until the forced layoffs, which continue to happen due to Zaslov's poor management.
Cons
Following the merger with Discovery, the company's pursuit of profit often translated into consequences for its employees. Layoffs became frequent, leaving many feeling uncertain about their job security. The burden of additional work and relatively low compensation further exacerbated the challenges, making it difficult for employees to maintain a work-life balance and financial stability.

Pros
Wonderful coworkers and talented artists and designers. The franchise IPs WB maintains provide a large selection of projects to work with that really tug on the heart strings of nostalgia. This company has many loyal and very creative employees.
Cons
Underpaid and overworked by the cooperate culture. It was hard to find time for a life working this job. I had to put in a ton of unpaid overtime and it really ruined a lot of the joy of working here. The promise of career advancement was taken away almost immediately after I signed my contract and I felt very bait and switched. I was constantly relied upon to clean up far too many mistakes made by my coworkers and amplified by my managers. I was then not given the pay or the promotions I deserved while I was forced to do the job and expected to maintain results that other more senior managers were completely incapable of delivering on.

Pros
It is an inclusive culture trying to tie performance metrics to their employees and keep them accountable. I worked for a great team and supervisor that brought out the best in me.
Cons
They are hindered by a legacy culture which was heavily siloed. The rules did not apply fairly across all groups, business units and teams within the legacy culture of Time Warner. The years following two mergers and restructuring are as much about refreshing the workforce as saving costs. The legacy workforce that remains is smaller, but brittle in their ability to work with a future-forward mindset.

Pros
Since the merger, the people who were Discovery employees seem to be happier due to perks and benefits being brought up to legacy Turner's standards
Cons
Since the merge, the people who were Turner/Warnermedia employees seem to be miserable. Leadership doesn't fit the old culture. The new culture that's being curated has current morale rather low

Pros
This is the most political and horribly toxic place I've ever worked. Rolling layoffs take place every where to avoid making the news circuit and people are treated as expensible. I have never worked in a more toxic atmosphere where people could care less about you as a human being and where you will receive abusive treatment such as mysoginy, being gaslit on a regular basis and being undermined every single day. Stay clear clear away. No pros.
Cons
Only cons. See above pros.

Pros
The brand itself has an allure, one of the few original studios with an immense history in film, which does look good on a resume (we'll see how long that lasts). Getting to work on some of the content is also a wonderful experience.
Cons
Previously, Warner Bros. was a great company to work for, but from the minute David Zaslav took over the company has become a dumpster fire. Cuts are often, with little understanding of what departments are working on and what the roles being cut do. Everyone, from the top down, lives in fear as to who is next on the chopping block. If you are one of the "lucky" ones that aren't cut, it simply means that your workload will quadruple, but don't worry, they will be another round of layoffs just a few months later, so any relief you might feel in the immediate will be gone soon enough. If you are looking for a stable work environment where your work is appreciated, this ain't it. I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy.

I’m coming to LA July 10th to intern at an established magazine company for production/fashion. I only work 2-3 days out of the week and am looking to do more creative work to make extra money while I’m here for the next few months! I am well versed in photography/video, film and television production, production assisting, editing and post production, graphic design, content creation and marketing (social media/online/print), etc. If you’re looking to hire, let me know! I don’t have anything for you at the moment but I respect the hustle.
Does anyone know what the dress code is for in-house counsel at entertainment/media companies (e.g., NBC, Warner Bros., Paramount, Disney, and the like)?
Generally it’s casual but can be a slight step up from what people working in other departments would wear. Think like jeans and a dress shirt. From my experience, there’s no set dress code but since in-house attorneys will sometimes still interact with attorneys at firms who are more formal, they try to look slightly nicer than the jeans and t-shirts everyone else at the company wears. My experience is pre-pandemic though so that unwritten guide may have gone out the window since then.
