I worked at Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The ambiance is very sweet. Even if there are more employees it still feels like a big family. Employees are respected by the direction. The office is GREAT.

    Cons

It's a video game studio, expect some crunches. But they are not so bad in this one, really.

I have been working at Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great brands, commitment to high quality games, very secure employment, generally reasonable hours and workload.

    Cons

No upside if you do a good job - bonuses are capped (small percent of salary), annual raises are lower than inflation, very slow to promote. Lots of politics, particularly among senior management, lead to dueling initiatives that should be combined across departments and unnecessary bitterness/conflict among rank and file.

    Advice to Management

Define a strategy, get buy-in from everyone, follow-up on it and stick with it. Attract best-in-class employees and invest in identifying and retaining star performers.

I have been working at Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Very capable and intelligent staff, these people know what they are doing
    - Management understands games business and are well respected
    - Great IP, DC Entertainment, Lord Of the Rings/Hobbit, Harry Potter, and Lego properties to work with, just to name a few
    - Very stable for a game company: Fewer layoffs and restructuring compared to direct competitors such as Disney Interactive

    Cons

    - Due to the larger company size, upward mobility may take longer than smaller studios but in my personal situation, I was able to move quickly due to a vacancy
    - Sometimes too process driven and a lot of red tape, needs to be more agile in order to maintain competitive edge
    - Limited or lack of original IP from games, most games are based on existing IP, they need to start expanding their business and allow for internal creative development

    Advice to Management

    - Continue growth for the business but also don't be afraid to think outside the box - let's get WBIE in the top 10 publishers list

I have been working at Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible hours, not micromanaged, casual but professional atmosphere.

    Cons

Like all game companies, nepotism and favortism run rampant. Watched more than one "love interest" get promoted with seemingly lower qualifications than other canidates.

    Advice to Management

Meh. No one listens to testers.

I worked at Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits, pay and work life balance. The team is fun and full of talent.

    Cons

Office location in San Francisco is in a very bad neighborhood. You can't leave the office without being surrounded by junkies. Its not uncommon to walk by people smoking crack and shooting up in the middle of the day.

    Advice to Management

    Move office to safer location.

Former Employee - Playtest Moderator in Kirkland, WA

I worked at Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (Less than a year)

    Pros

-Provides hands on experience for many aspects of user research.
-Relatively flexible hours when not conducting studies.
-Good networking opportunities for the video game industry.
-Constant deadlines and a necessity to get details right makes it good experience for people entering the workforce.

    Cons

-You will work weekends often during busy seasons.
    -No benefits
-9 month contract, must wait 3 months to reapply
-Leadership is not always on the same page, you will be told to do something one way by one person and told that is wrong by another person, makes for good people management practice.
-Leadership has little patience for mistakes. This is good and bad, you will be frustrated but it will force you to grow.

    Advice to Management

Iron out your messaging. If you tell incoming moderators that they are encouraged to ask questions and propose alternative ways to simplify processes, then have more patience when they do ask questions and propose ideas. Otherwise, if things need to be done a certain way, just state that.

    Pros

Great work/life balance. Friendly and approachable executives. Friendly and inclusive co-workers. Good benefits.

    Cons

Can be a bit of a bureaucracy and the company can be slow moving when it comes to change/improvements.

    Advice to Management

Relax. We're not curing cancer! :)
