I worked at Warner Bros. (Less than a year)

    Pros

Amazing lot, got some good contacts and real-life experience, got to be on real TV sets!

    Cons

The particular department I worked in worked like dogs- often working for 12+ hours without taking a break. It seems given this, that the burn out rate would be very high. I don't think anyone can survive at that rate, long term. Also not a ton of room for growth

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees better and let them take breaks. Also, don't make them scared. Mentor the people below you...it will pay off.

    Pros

The compensation was great and people were nice

    Cons

Too many VPs and managers (without any direct report)

    Negative Outlook

    Pros

Decent benefits. The lot is pretty cool

    Cons

Lack of leadership among departmental management. Managers too worried bout their own jobs to concern themselves with the work environment of their employees. Warner Bros REALLY bad at promoting from within...they put you in your lane and keep you there because it suits them. I would NOT recommend working at Warners. There is very little job security and small chance for advancement.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees like you actually care, and not as a means to your own ends.

I worked at Warner Bros. (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Warner Bros is a company that provides you a canvas on which to draw out your career. I experienced tremendous career growth and opportunity during my work tenure there. As well I built some great professional relationships. I highly recommend them.

    Cons

Important to demonstrate great organizational skills to succeed as it is a fast paced and demanding environment, actually something I truly enjoyed.

    Advice to Management

Appropriate risk taking is what has given WB great success in the past, don't lose sight of that. Company could be 2x larger than it is today.

I have been working at Warner Bros. full-time

    Pros

Access to the lot. Great co-workers (networking opportunities). special screenings and events. Can apply to other departments as an insider.

    Cons

Low pay- customers can at times only be interested in celebrity sightings (blames the tour guide if they don't see anyone). Management is terrible and lazy. Puts responsibilities on guides and support staff to keep the department running.

    Advice to Management

Get your act together! being a manger doesn't mean you can just do whatever you want and leave the wreckage for the guides and support staff to fix. Also, you are not here to meet celebrities. Get to work! And stop refunding money for every little thing. That is why the dept. is "broke"

I have been working at Warner Bros. (More than a year)

    Pros

I'm lucky to work in a department that gets along well with each other. Despite being a massive company, I do feel like the branches are getting better and better at communicating with each other.

    Cons

Can occasionally feel lost in the crowd, what with the company being so large.

    Advice to Management

    Encourage creativity and innovation

    Pros

Screenings - Flex Summer Fridays - Casual atmosphere.

    Cons

Cafeteria needs better tasting breakfast and lunch sandwiches.

    Advice to Management

President of DTVD Domestic Group needs to be friendlier / more approachable to support staff / he's very dry.

  9. "Good company to work for if you don't mind feeling like a tiny cog in a huge machine"

Current Employee - Financial Analyst in Burbank, CA

    Pros

Good benefits package - healthcare, vision, dental
401k with contribution matching - up to 6%
    Casual work environment
Being an entertainment company means that generally, even in non-creative positions, that you'll be working with creative people

    Cons

Firm corporate structure - significant upward movement within the company is unlikely
Dated technology solutions - much money, time, and effort spent retrofitting old applications
    Low salary
How far you'll go seems to depend less on your quality of work and character and more on whose ego you are willing to stroke

    Advice to Management

Find better ways to express to your employees that their work matters. Appreciate good work more than feigned friendship. Provide employees with perks that aren't just "see this movie for free a day or two before it comes out." Allow more opportunities for a flexible work schedule and working from home.

Does not feel like a team environment. Very competitive and stressful.

    Advice to Management

Better communication and courses in management.

I worked at Warner Bros. (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits and some good employees.

    Cons

Lots of layoffs and morale is very low. Many jobs are threatened so there's a lot of "trying to save your job" activities which has led to backstabbing. Lack of good content being released doesn't help morale.
