I worked at Warner Music full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Free CDs. Nicely decorated offices.

    Cons

Very negative people who complain about their jobs a lot. Management is largely based on how long they've been there and not on competency. As a result, there are some very unintelligent managers to deal with. The managers are highly cliquey and will gang up on staff they don't like. The pay is very low. There is no opportunity for growth, and making suggestions for improvements is discouraged. The boss said to me "no one is going to listen to you" so don't bother making suggestions. It's not a place you look forward to going to, rather dread and count the days until the weekend. There's great places out there - WMG is not one.

    Advice to Management

Management doesn't take advise at WMG so there's no point in offering any.

I have been working at Warner Music full-time

    Pros

Flexible work time that I like
Some of the perks are good
    They pay well

    Cons

If you know you are a liability then this place is excellent for you. All non performers thrive
Management has no clue what to do when it comes to reducing cost
I have seen good people let go and at the same time, non performing assets retained
The new org structure is leadership heavy that actually adds to the cost
No one will care about your work as long as you are a "Yes Man" to your boss
If you try to do the right thing, you will be shot

    Advice to Management

When you hire smart people, listen to them and don't ask them to simply follow orders. Many leaders get offended if you don't attend their "team meetings" no matter how important your work is. Learn to be flexible and respect good work. People who bring in value will automatically reduce operating cost. Stop being penny wise pound foolish

I worked at Warner Music full-time

    Pros

Fun environment if you like music

    Cons

Terrible benefits (health, vacation, etc), no learning structure or opportunities, favoritism - management clearly shows which employees they favor by giving them opportunities - others are left to pick up the work no one wants to do, while management hopes they leave

    Pros

Great dining/relaxation/patio area. Most people tend to be friendly and easy going. Casual dress.

    Cons

My experience was very, very negative, the job description clearly stated that $ was an hourly rate and $$ was an overtime rate, it was pretty clear that I would have to work longer than 8 hours a day. The second manager saw an overtime claim she said to never do it again, even if I had to stay way past 8 hours including working through lunch.

Managers would fairly openly talk about the interviews they would have for the permanent replacement for the position.

The department consists of 3 women, down from 5, and they don't seem to be particularly open to changing that at any point.

Was notified by a smiling manager that today may or may not be the last day of the contract and later was notified over the email that it was the last day indeed.

Finally constant conversations about restaurants and the burning desire to get married.

    Advice to Management

    No advice

I worked at Warner Music full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

New and different industry. Great Burbank office, with wonderful friendly people.

    Cons

NY office is the the is very weak on leadership, no clue about IT strategy and run by management whom are clueless.
NY management is set in their way and not open to new ideas, technology.
There is no accountability, just finger pointing.
This is indicative of their amazingly high turnover.
IT Management is never held accountable for the failed, or long running over budget projects. Blame is usually thrown at the small guys working their butts off to make it successful.

    Advice to Management

The IT department Management in NY needs a major shake-up, with out with the old and in with the new that have the experience, and new refreshing ideas.
Or just let Burbank take care of IT operations.

I worked at Warner Music full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Nice office in Burbank.
Fun to say you work in the music industry, even though it is just like any other office job.

    Cons

Very weak management, leading to minimal professional development.
Very unprofessional at every level, leading to a revolving door of turning over.
They hire finance people to do accounting work, pretending that this is a finance position.
Men should look else wear, this office is run by women and only women were promoted during my 3 years.

    Advice to Management

Reevaluate middle management, just because an employee has a long tenure does not mean they should be in management.

I have been working at Warner Music full-time

    Pros

    No pros here at all.

    Cons

Absolutely one of the worst companies I have ever worked for. People are not very bright, unprofessional and their technology is outdated especially in the BTS area. Environment was disgusting. Unemployment rate is dropping. You could find something better and not settle for this poorly run company. Stay away from this company.

    Advice to Management

Since Warner Music is privately owned by a billionaire, I highly recommend you suggest to the billionaire that he sell Warner Music immediately and cut his losses.

I worked at Warner Music full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

none - see cons. maybe the only good thing was that the hours were pretty standard.

    Cons

Licensing/Royalties department is like a black hole. No respect from company, totally disregarded as bottom of the barrel workers. Salaries remained stagnant for years. Senior Management in this department is completely unqualified. Computer systems are outdated and inefficient.

    Advice to Management

show more respect and integrate that department with the rest of company functions. Offer raises.
