I worked at Warner Music (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Tries to give employees access to fun, work-related events, often supports charities with fundraiser and matching donations, relaxed though professional environment, little micro-managing

    Cons

Not much discussion about advancement, no encouraging of mentorship or long-term career development

    Advice to Management

If you like the people under you, develop them. Then they won't need to look elsewhere for advancement and you can plan for such changes together.

I worked at Warner Music full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I worked at Warner Music full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of concerts, get to meet alot of people

    Cons

Pay isn't great. As a record label Warner pays the lowest.

    Advice to Management

Give lower level staff a chance to share ideas. They know whats REALLY happening out there and on social media.

    Pros

The pros depended highly on the team you're on directly. For me, having gym access for a monthly fee, summer Fridays, an overall relaxed atmosphere, consistently fun and engaging music events, Lunch and learn events, and great people and community were positive attributes of being a part of this company.

    Cons

The cons depend highly on the team you're directly on. For me, the culture became progressively more corporate as each year passed. I also didn't see a focus on developing teams or people. I observed lots of individuals in coordinator positions for 7+ years, waiting their turn to be promoted, not acquiring any transferrable skills into leadership.

I worked at Warner Music full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    1. Great colleagues to work with in IT , everyone cares including the managers and the cohesion is great
    2. Annual town hall is a great opportunity to know how the business is doing, the strategy and listen to upcoming music talents and impromptu concerts by established as well as new musicians. I must have watched half a dozen of my favourite artists up close !
    3. HR tries to organise events and tours so there is something happening every month
    4. The offices are clean and new and the location is fantastic

    Cons

    1. IT is top down led so there is ad hoc restructuring every couple of years which means you never know when you or your colleague will be culled
    2. There is no training for IT and shared services and it does not matter if you self-learn or upskill, if you are on the chopping block because someone in corporate decided that you will be chopped. Previous performance does not count
    3. Generally speaking no career growth.

    Advice to Management

IT is considered a cost and not a strategic advantage. That mindset needs to change.
