I have been working at Warner Music part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Amazing opportunities- you take on real responsibility and have amazing opportunities to network and get important experience for post-grad opportunities.

Amazing team- management in the College Marketing department is amazing. They are super helpful, understanding about school, work, and other schedule conflicts. They give you so many resources to help prepare you for the position and then the real world once you graduate.

    Cons

Sometimes you have to work more than the specified 18 hrs/week in order to achiever above and beyond results. This doesn't really bother me since I love the work, but something to keep in mind.

Location- if you're not in a big music industry market ( NYC, LA, Nashville, etc.) you sometimes have fewer opportunities since there are no label offices near you and there might be fewer artists that come through your town. Still an amazing job to have, but keep in mind you'll have to work a little harder to stand out.

Pay is only $8/hr. This can't be your only job if you're trying to pay your way through school. This is kind of a trade off though since there are so many amazing opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Keep on doing what you're doing! So glad I took this job and wish I could do Full Time!

I worked at Warner Music full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Laid back atmosphere, working on projects for major artists, great company where people stay for decades

    Cons

State of the music industry overall has hurt WMG as well as the other majors. Understaffed and underpaid. You're either let go or stay to take over someone else's job as well as your own.

I worked at Warner Music full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Staff was very friendly, nice location, and the salary was pretty good in terms of industry standards. And sometimes you'd get a musician coming in to play.

    Cons

Not much room for growth, inter company politics was common, and management at times didn't understand how hard some of the work was.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your team and see their needs.

"Overworked and understaffed is a big problem"

    StarStarStarStarStar
    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

I worked at Warner Music full-time

    Pros

Working in the music industry means lots of free perks and a fairly casual work environment.

    Cons

Most of us were doing jobs that should have been done by 3 people. Overworked and underpaid.

    Advice to Management

Make sure your top performers are adequately compensated and cared for (more vacation time or flex time) or they WILL burn out.
