Great place to learn - hard place to grow

Jun 9, 2021 - Sales Planner in Los Angeles, CA

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Warner Media is an amazing place to develop relationships both internal and external, learn the inner workings of the industry and work with smart and focused people.

      Cons

Very tough to get promoted past the Sales Planner position (within ad-sales) and Manager level (within Marketing). No expansion and the current employees in those positions aren't leaving anytime soon because its a good gig. Just know that going in.

      Horrible place to be

      Pros

It used to be really great, before Jason Kilar arrived.

      Cons

Where to start? Wow, there's a lot of them, but I'll give it a shot. 1. They pay well below industry average and want you to feel happy about it. We don't 2. They brought in this disgusting loser (Jason K)and his cronies, and he has systematically destroyed everything that made this an amazing place to be part of and fired everyone with actual knowledge of how the industry works, leaving a bunch of wrong-headed bobble head yes-men who have the experience of a high school senior and the impulse control of one too. 3. Good luck progressing on your career track! I've been here for five years, and no one in our entire department (of 20+) has progressed forward in either title or significant money, and its always blamed on the mergers or re-orgs or whatever, which should have no impact on our personal careers. It's a complete dead end. 4. We've had 7 re-orgs and two huge mergers (leading to more re-orgs) over the past few years. The last round cut our workforce down by 38% but our workload has tripled.

Great people. A lot of employees have been there for 10+ years, Top leadership is committed to culture, DEI, and the Human Capital Factor

      Cons

Have had a hard time moving around. Some teams are product-first or engineering-first (rather than more collaborative)
