I worked at Warren County Schools full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Working as a full-time elementary school teacher in the lowest performing school in the county has given me plenty of material for a tell-all book should I decide to write one. The only true "pro" I can think of is that the Superintendent is approachable.

    Cons

Dictator-style leadership from Principal; lowest staff morale I have ever experienced; soaring violent behavior problems; lack of administrator support; extremely low test scores; no protection from outside disruptions; overcrowded classrooms; technology is unreliable; school board is unresponsive; good teachers are viewed with suspicion; PTSD inducing environment; parents are completely disengaged; teachers have no voice; staff is constantly bullied; low pay.

    Advice to Management

Hire qualified administrators and staff. Support your employees instead of berating them when they ask for help or training. Fix your teacher turnover problem. Quit turning a blind eye to the fact that over 70% of your elementary school population is special needs, even if they're not formally "identified". Give teachers the support they need when dealing with such a high-need group of students instead of demanding miracles and then screaming when you don't get them.

I worked at Warren County Schools (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I have nothing positive to say about Warren County School System.

    Cons

Warren County needs to STOP bringing TFA's to the school system. These TFA's DO NOT care about our children. All they care about is doing their 2 years with the program and getting their college loans paid back. These TFA's get trained over 1 Summer when you have people who want to actually teach, go to college for 4 years to do something that they have a passion for. TFA's are not preparing our children for college. Their preparing them to fail. Warren County needs to hire teachers that went to college for teaching and not someone who went to college for something else other then teaching and becoming a TFA just to pay back a college loan. SAVE OUR CHILDREN.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring TFA's who don't care about our children and hire those who actually went to college to become a teacher.
