    Pros

My team was cohesive and filled with good people, for the most part. Business partners were engaged and collaborated as equals.

    Cons

If you're looking to work for this company, I have some bad news for you... Thanks to unscrupulous lending practices, WaMu is no more.

    Advice to Management

Think about what your company stands for. WaMu was founded in order to help rebuild after the Great Seattle Fire of 1889. In the end it was destroyed by avarice and short-term thinking.

    Pros

The people that worked there were the best! The experience was enlightening and I am glad it was part of my tenure.

    Cons

Management knew only one thing and that was make money at all costs, which eventually, lead to their own implosion. In spite of tremendous "in-the-door" volume, the compensation plan was diminished at best and completely geared toward 'Super-Producers'. No front or back-end points. I made more once I left to become a Mortgage Banker.

    Advice to Management

It was fun while it lasted. Thanks for the good times. Standing on the stage with like-minded producing peers was definitely rewarding. It meant a lot to me.

    Pros

Washington mutual was a great place for a college student pursuing a business degree to start a career in a business environment, specifically in finance or economics. They were well structured and had proper training for individuals, regardless of their role, to succeed in their job.

    Cons

Difficult to move up in the company. It appeared as if seniority took precedence to talent. My Branch Manager was an assistant for 16 years before she got a shot to run her own branch.

    Advice to Management

    Avoid hostile takeover

I worked at Washington Mutual full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I like the work hours, the training, and the team of people I worked with (both employee and management).

    Cons

Part of my job was to collect from people that were going through some major hardships, i.e. loss of home , loss of a love one, and/or personal despair. That made it difficult to process my job.

    Advice to Management

    None

I worked at Washington Mutual full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Lots of room to learn, plenty of opportunity. Lots of collaboration and the chance to work on completely new projects. I really enjoyed my time there, and learned a TON. Plenty of opportunity to work with senior management closely, if you were working on strategically aligned projects.

    Cons

Absolutely crazy as everything crashed... no work/life balance, disregard for long term business reality in pursuit of short term immediate financial gain.
