I worked at Washington Mutual full-time

    Pros

i suppose it was fine working there. I didn't really mind it. It was in downtown seattle, which was convenient and very, very easy to get to by bus.

    Cons

They shut down the doors and kicked everyone out in to the streets. That was not good. That really, really, really, really sucked.

    Advice to Management

Maybe try to not go bankrupt. And don't lie to employees. That should really be frowned on and make a bad thing to do for everyone.

I worked at Washington Mutual full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fun culture. Growth culture. Supportive executive management in the Mortgage Division.

    Cons

Many mergers and reorganizations made it challenging to motivate people and keep everyone going all of the time.

    Pros

The company was fair. It had great benefits and recognition program that made the employees feel valued.

    Cons

The management could have been a little clear on the direction of the company.

    Advice to Management

Make sure your employees stay well informed in your direction

    Pros

Decent pay for a high school student; very social; opportunity to take initiative and advance

    Cons

Always pushing the up-sell. And up-selling subprime loans lead to terrible consequences in the end.

    Advice to Management

Well, you don't really exist anymore. So next time when you have a business that survived the great depression, try to put people first (not profits) and survive the great resession.
